I got my ASVAB scores back not too long ago, and I was wondering how to interpret my scores in terms of enlistment. I got a 98, highest in the school, whoot, but that looks like it's only taken from a few tests. The test results were as follows:

Verbal Skills 99
Math Skills 98
Science and Technical Skills 94
General Science 98
Arithmetic reasoning 96
Word Knowledge 99
Paragraph Comprehension 99
Mathematics Knowledge 98
Electronics Informations 91
Auto and Shop Information 63
Mechanical Comprehension 85

You can get a very good job in the military.

As for other fields, they don't care about the ASVAB. Everyone knows it's very easy to pass.

I don't remember that many different categories in the ASVAB, but if this is what they're using now, I'd say your scores are very good. You could be qualified for just about any job in the military. Ask your recruiter for more details. 50 is an average score, it's based on a percentile, whereas 99 is the highest.

Those are very good scores and yes you are qualified for almost any job in all the Branches. Congratulations man that's good sh*t. But they not gone go by your score of 98. They go by your Composite Score, also known as your Line Scores. Areas in your Line Scores are:

For the Army

GT

CL

CO

EL

FA

GM

MM

OF

SC

ST

For the Air Force

M

A

G

E

For the Navy and Coast Guards

GT

EL

BEE

ENG

MEC

MEC2

NUC

OPS

HM

ADM

For the Marines

MM

GT

EL

CL

Its a little confusing but ima use my scores for example. I was joining the Army when i took the ASVAB and they go by the Line Scores to determine what jobs I qualify for. Here's how my scores look:

My ASVAB Score (AFQT Percentile Score): 43

(To qualify for enlistment in the Army, your ASVAB score needs to be a 31 or above)

My Composite Scores (Line Scores):

GT-94

CL-97

CO-95

EL-96

FA-94

GM-94

MM-94

OF-93

SC-98

ST-95

They go by your ASVAB score to see if you're qualified to enlist, and then they go by your Composite Scores (Line Scores) to determine what jobs you qualify for. Even though I scored a 43 and was qualified to join, i had some pretty decent and solid numbers in my Line Scores and I qualified for some very decent jobs. I had about 10 jobs to choose from and of the 10, it was 3 of em i really wanted. You gone have plenty jobs at your disposal with your scores.

My advice: whatever Branch you trying to enlist in, look up their list of MOS's (jobs in the military are called MOS, which stands for Military Occupation Specialty. Its what your job is in your military branch) and see which ones interests you and write them down so you know what they are and what it requires you to do. Some people I know that enlisted in the Army didn't research the different MOS's and end up enlisting with a MOS they didn't want or didn't interest them, and they was crying and complaining about them. DON'T BE LIKE THESE DUMB A*SES!!! RESEARCH SO YOU'LL KNOW WHAT YOU WANT IF ITS AVAILABLE TO YOU AND OPEN TO YOU!!!

The army has the complete list of em on their official page at www.goarmy.com

Good luck and Outstanding job on your ASVAB
