In January, I signed a contract into the us army as a parachute rigger and I leave for Basic in July. However, I did not have any college transcripts so when I signed the contract I became a Private E-1. However, I recently completed a pre-basic training task list which you can only do in DEP and Ive been told can get me to E-2. Ive also been told by my recruiter that I only need to bring my transcripts when I go back in July to get my promotion. I have 2 years of ROTC in college plus I should get my AA degree (or certainly more credits) before I go. However, Ive also been told that what I signed on my contract stays there which means that the task list, college and ROTC don't mean anything now. Is it still possible for me to enter the army with rank on my collar and what must I do to ensure this? What should I do when I go back to MEPS in July?

Whatever you have in writting is most likely gonna be what you get. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITTING! Recruiters aren't to worried about taking care of you. You are not actually in the Army until you sign your 3rd contract AT basic. If you are not comfortable with what they tell you tell them you wont go unless they fix it.
