The weird pronunciation when giving commands is because certain sounds project better when shouted.

its not funny its just becuase they are agressive people and it used in they need low pitches to carry out through the whole copmany at times. saying atention as it is pronouced by the websters dictionary gets slurd every now and again and atenhut is two beat. a-ten is takes up beat 1 and the "e" beat of one. then on beat two you come in with HUT! so whats happening is this is drawn from the music world where they give you a count off so that you know when to preform your comand. so if i said on atention you put yoru feet to gether, i would have asume you all know when im going to say it right? other wise you would do it at different times. so you could say 1, 2 ,3 atention but instead of 1 2 3 they give you a-ten as the 123 and then hut as when your feet are to hit.
also try saying atention fast and lound enough for everyone to hear. you will end up saying atenhut as well. its easier on yoru vioce aswell. saying atenhuit takes less stress then atention. its a matter of convienence.

never heard the pass away component till now, however the merchandising could be taken away if he warning signs a DEC fact, honestly he could be declining his orders for his next accountability station, and for doing that he won't be promoted and should no longer be allowed to re-enlist. at the instant I even have one million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and four months left till now I ETS, even with the undeniable fact that i replaced into purely chosen by utilising the army for Drill Sergeant accountability, so I ought to re-enlist to fulfill the time in provider requirement for Drill Sergeant it is a three 3 hundred and sixty 5 days re-enlistment, the only way for me to get out of this accountability is to sign a DEC fact, which might ward off me from getting promoted. Your son desires to communicate to somebody different then this re-enlistment NCO to get the finished tale, yet some thing does not look suitable.

Its called projecting your voice. Where ATTENTION doesn't always come out well, A-TEN-HUT is pretty clear to a large group of people.
Its kind of like the same tricks ventriloquists use but on a different scale.

Commands are generally split into two parts: the preparatory command and the command of execution. For example, "a-ten-hut," the "a-ten" part lets everyone know they are being called to attention (the preparatory command), when they hear the "hut" part they actually go to attention (the command of execution), hopefully all at the same time.

Every branch of the military have their own unique traditions and language (acronyms) that has grown over the years. These unify the members into a cohesive group that is necessary to fulfill their mission. It sounds unusual to the civilian population because they haven't been exposed to it.
