Well let's just say that unless you're in the armed forces, let's not make assumptions based on the news. Afterall, most of the time the news has a slant on facts and figures they're telling people anyhow. If you don't believe me, look what happened on CNN with the Coast Guard on 9/11's 8th Anniversary. Is US Army morale broken? Or more like is the morale of the American armed forces (that includes the Army, Navy Air Force, and Marines) broken? No. If you look at recruiting and retention numbers, you'll see the more people want to join the armed forces, and more people already in are reenlisting at an all time high since 2003. So to answer your question, I don't see that an increasing number are refusing ot deploy. It's been relatively steady since 2005 when military members started having issues with frequent and lengthy deployments. Not because of broken morale. And what's up with "recent" carnages of Afghan Civilians. They have been at war dealing with such atrocities for over 30 years. If you want to be so slanted in your questioning, maybe you should go visit Afghanistan yourself to see for your own eyes. You sound like a modern-day hippy. All jaw jacking...your weapon of choice is finger pointing firing off complaints.

Soldiers live by a higher code of honor. They don't just run away because bumps in the road or they fear dying. They fight knowing they serve a cause far greater than themselves and if necessary will die protecting those they love. Something a lot of people have lost in this country. I myself am joining during this war because I believe inaction is worst than action in this instance, and the longer we sit back and just let the terrorist be, the more powerful they will become just as happened during the 90's.

As for the soldiers that have fled to canada and and such based on being anti-war. It doesn't matter. They're all cowards. Greedy little self preserving cowards. I don't care if you believe in the war or not. Every man that goes AWOL makes it that much more dangerous for his fellow soldier. You betray them when you leave, all to save yourself.

I'd rather die standing tall next to my friend then live knowing I turned my back on him. But I guess I've been brought up with old customs and morals.

Why should they? They want to hold on

to our freedoms the same as other citizens.

They want to keep the terrorists from another killing incident on our land. They

volunteered to deploy to Iraq. We have those anti-war dupes who march and

protest. What a waste of time....why aren't

they out there doing good for the poor,

the widows, the sick, and the hurting?

Should they American public incite the military to mutiny? Absolutely not!

I told you in earlier posts that you do not speak for those of us in the American military; I doubt you speak for the American people either.

Why do you go yourself and tell a soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine to mutiny (and be sure to mention to they were recruited into a terrorist organization; you did mention that in one of your answers) and see what happens. Most of us would merely ignore you, others may laugh in you, but you may get your butt kicked.

BTW. Do you know you is killing the vast majority of Iraqi civilians dying today? The terrorist are. How stupid are you?

Some groups do already. The Soldiers, Marines and Airmen and Sailors usually respond with.... ignoring all that and completing the mission. Some have absconded to the frigid north of Canada. It is called desertion.

Absolutely not. The last thing you want is a military that can not be depended on to carry out its assigned tasks. If you want to change what the military is doing, appeal to the politicians who set the policy. Failing that, boot 'em out of office. But you will NEVER see the US military refuse to do its job.

I'd like to see where you get your numbers at about iraqi civilians being killed by the military. Last I checked thats against the geneva convention.

If a servicemember does receive an illegal order, the order should be disobeyed.

Orders to deploy to Iraq are not illegal.

Should the US public appeal directly to US soldiers to stomp retarded trolls into the ground?

Absolutely.

You Li'l Abners keep bleating about the war being "illegal"... but have yet to cite any reference that proves that it is illegal, or that it's even a war.

ROFL.....yeah i can see that, disobey a direct order from your chain of command, ruin your career, your familys life and quite possibly go to prison cuz some guy who most likely has never held a worthwhile job in his life said so.....ok ill jump right on that

Our soldiers are too professional. They have a change of command and civilians, regardless of such pleas, are not part of that chain of command.

Maybe you and your peers can make a public appeal to the next group of terrorists that strike the US, or our territory.

No. Even if the public tried to get me to not go to Iraq I would still go. That is what I volunteered for and if ordered, thats what I would do. I have done it twice already.

NO! We have an all volunteer military. Our fighting men and women know why they are there-to bring peace to the middle east. Their orders are perfectly legal.Don't say "we" when you say stuff like this-don't include real Americans in this kind of defeatist speech.

You again.....Your problem is that you come from a fast food society, a fix it fast up bringing, when the "world:" doesn't work like that. All you see is what CNN and the liberals tell you or show you, and that is death and destruction. How soon you forget how long the world war took (longer) and how soon you forget how long the reconstruction took of those country's (longer), how soon you forget that the battle of Iwo Jima killed 7,000 Marines and 30,000 Japanese in 30 days! How soon you forget that the reconstruction of Japanese took 10 years. How soon you forget that the battle of Stalingrad killed some 3-4 MILLION soldiers and civilians both from Germany and Russia, how soon you forget that the reconstruction of Russia and Germany took decades, how soon you forget that in one battle in Korea that Chinese lost 17,000 troops in less than 15 minutes trying to overrun an artillery unit, and reconstruction is still taking place in North Korea, where people starve to feed their war machine!

Hundreds already have refused. This number will go up as more reach the limits of their rotation.
