Riddle me this riddle me that...

I wasn't a Para or a Marine..

I was a Corps Man, a Infantry Man.

And must have been Scottish judging by the answers on the Sas question...

So if you wondering about pay then don't think British Forces.

The roles of the Royal Marines and Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan are very similar as they are Elite they do pretty much the same job on dry land...

Bad points are as my Mate Deal the Real pointed out training is harsh and very wet if you go Marines and high up (head for heights a must) if you go Para that is if they are still allowed to use the Trainasium.

Royal Marines go SBS but some go SAS as well.

Para's go SAS it's a jumping out of Planes thing "Air Troop" SAS ( ice cream boys eh. Deal the Real).

If you do get in the SAS one day you want "Mobility Troop"..

a lot easier than manpackin everywhere and they get the proper guns not little C7 pop guns we're talking .50 cals, GMG's and sweet motors Pinkies, LSV's...and I'm sure there some nice kit in fashion right now...

Well the SAS is great and everything but I'd imagine that the SBS get the same training but more in water based combat making them more elite I think. You can join the SAS from the marines but they normally join the SBS because after five or so years in the royal marines you won't mind the water as much as you do now. Hope this helps.

I'm glad you wish to join one of the British Elite Forces and that you are willing to go through a fate worse than death and will regret every minute of every day during training going through the pain barrier until you loose count suffering from exhaustion, sleep deprivation and aches and pains in places you didn't even knew existed, but it will all be worth it in the end...

As for SAS or SBS best do the easy bit first before you start the real training.

Good Luck..

EDIT...Double Tap shouldn't you be in bed, way past your bed time isn't it....

Don't listen to the trucker below had life too easy....

A SAS man is a foot soldier carries his home on his back..

Join the Para's do well go SAS and request Air troop 30,000 feet free fall...Proper Job..

If you want to join the SAS the best route is joining the SASR (special air service reserves) You can do this with no military background or knowledge, you wil complete 26 weeks CIC training with the regular army then completer the SASR training, find info and get a pack from this site :

http://www.rfca-wales.org.uk/uksfr.htm

Fill in the form.

go into your local ARMED FORCES CAREERS OFFICE and speak to them, www.armyjobs.mod.uk you will find the info on there.

Members of the SAS and SBS come from all over the forces, not only the paras and marines.

You cant apply for the SAS or SBS, they will come to you if you meet there criteria and fitness standards.

Paras use parachutes, Marines use boats., they get paid roughly the same and work very closely togehter.
