I was discharged out of the Navy in April 2004 due to a knee problem. I got an honorable discharge but my re-entry code is RE-4. IOn my DD-214 it say due to a condition not a disability. Is there a chance I can change this?

Not likely.

Your only hope is to contact the Board for Correction of Naval Records, and submit medical documentation showing why an RE-4 should not have been issued in the first place.

Once the RE code is upgraded (again, unlikely; RE-4's are not very commonly changed), you can apply for a medical review and waiver to re-enter the Armed Forces.

You can contact them at:

Good luck!

A reentry code of 4 means you are not able to get back in under any circumstances regardless of a waiver. The code can only be changed if it is in error. What you could do is get with the Veterans Administration and find a VA lawyer that can file an appeal to have it changed. The only bet is he can try and argue that the code should have been 3. Once that is out of the way you can get back in with a waiver. You can join the guard or reserves for a year. After a year you will get a honerable discharge with reentry code of 1 and you are golden. This is a lot of hoops and a long shot but the only thing you can do.

Maaaaaybe.

Probably not, though. The condition would have to be completely resolved with no deficit. Knee injuries are nasty, but it's not entirely impossible that you might recover sufficiently well to pass a medical board. If so, they you could petition for an upgrade.
