When I graduate basic training and go to Air Force training school to learn my job. The credits I accumulate there, will they be transferable to another institution if I wanted to go for and associates degree in the same field?

Depends on the level and depth of the training. For example, most colleges will grant advanced standing for people majoring in a foreign language, if they have been a linguist.

They will be applied towards a CCAF associates degree.

But Air Force credits from Tech School, generally only transfer as elective hours when transferred to a university.

Most degree programs, have specific courses you must take to recieve the degree.

It is not just how many credit hours you have.

Just like your high school said, you must have:

XX credits in English

XX credits in Math

XX credits in Science

XX credits in history

And then have a total XX number of credits

Toi graduate,

College degrees are like that to, except they want specific courses more than high school does.

You can cross train at 4 years into another field if you have solid EPRs and resign a contract. If you sign up for 6 you will get E3 as soon as you finish tech school. Most of what you will learn will go towards your CCAF 2 year degree. Since you already have some credits started chances are there will be duplicate credits. If you can finish your 2 year CCAF degree quickly because of already having some credits down you may be able to sew on SrA BTZ.

I attend Wayland Baptist University and my Basic Training counted as PE, my CDC's counted towards my Degree (which mirrored the CCAF degree) and my OJT counted towards my Degree too. Basically yes, it will count, but only for certain colleges. Not all colleges count OJT training as college credits. Talk to the Education Office and they will direct you to the colleges that work with the AF and help you transfer everything. Then if you're going to college they Education Office can let you know what classes you need for both the CCAF and your degree from the college of your choice. That way you only take one class to fulfill both degrees.

Basic training, tech school and your upgrade training (CDC-Career development course) all have credits that along with your general education and elective classes will contribute to an AA degree through the community college of the Air Force CCAF.

After you finish your job training you can attend college on your off duty time. Your tuition will be paid by the Air Force through the tuition assistance program.

It depends on the college. Some have special programs for military training transferability. You may even be able to attend specialized courses through the AF to build on the training you already have.

In many cases yes. My daughter is currently going to IDMT school (4NO--1C) which counts for 22 credit hours.

The credits you earn will go towards your CCAF degree.
