I'm in the DEP for the Navy. Are there drug tests? (detailed info)?

I just got my ship date last week. I don't go to basic until May and tomorrow some of my buddies are throwing a party, I'm sure there will be some of the green goodies. My question is: Is it pretty much safe to go ahead and do it since my ship date is so far? or do they do random tests while I'm waiting?

Forget about it!!!!! I failed a test before I joined, and I also failed a test a couple years in. I would take it back more than anything in the world. I doubt you will have a random drug test. Your next will be at boot. Life will blow if you go to boot camp just to fail a test and get out. That would be a waste of everything you are doing now. Good luck. And if you ask me FORGEDDABOUDIT.

The problem isn't that you go off in may and its far away or if they are going to do tests during DEP, the problem is if you don't have control and go ahead and stop, then there are going to be other times where it runs thru your head that you have tons of time and one more time smoking won't hurt. So let's say you smoke at the party, it will be out of your system by May (duh). But, a month down the road, there may be another party, and you think the same thing. Then later, a couple of buddies show up with some green goodies, and you think "Well, I have time." All of a sudden, now it's Feb/March/April and you still keep thinking you have time, but now youve been smoking all these months and have less of a chance for it to be out of your system by May. It is like a smoker who always says they are going to quit after their current pack... but after a couple of days they are buying more.

If you're smart enough not to do drugs then why did you ask this question? Also, the military is allowed to drug test you anytime they want. As a matter of fact I was drug tested 7 months in a row in Iraq. Now if they can do that in Iraq think about what they can do in the states if they wanted to.

I'm also a Navy DEPper!! My recruiter does random drug testing so there's no way i would be able to get away with trying the "green goodies" one last time. Plus, we're supposed to be setting an example. Remember the Navy's policy on drugs. ZERO tolerance!! So don't listen to the negative influencers telling you to do it one more time because if you get caught, you'll be missing out on the chance of a lifetime. Not THEM!!

you shouldnt any way it isnt good. if yur supposed to be in the navy you should be a good role model it is uncounsionable { meaning i dont like it} t do drugs it has ruined my moms life she doesnt do it bt her boyfriends did she started dating when i was 4 and am still in therapy for what the did to me and her

hmmm well are you going to be seeing anyone that could drug test u before basic? cause if not i doubt they will be knocking on your door to give u a test...having said that u gotta have one last good time with your buddies
