I want to join the Marines or the Army. I had already asked what branch people think is better to join for my personal preference. I am probably going to join the Marines because I believe they are the nations finest but I have heard that people in the Marines aren't getting to do what they wanted to do. I want to be in the infantry because I liked the idea of amphibious assault better than jumping out of a plane. This is important that I get to do this because I will be miserable in a branch that I don't like what I am doing. People say in the army your guaranteed the position you want. If this is true It would be a big help in my decision thanks.

You can enlist in the Marines with a guarantee of 03xx and your specific infantry MOS will be assigned. Similarly, you an enlist in the Army as an 11X and your specific infantry MOS will be assigned.

As far as amphibious assaults, the Marines conducted an amphibious landing at Beirut. They made an amphibious assault at Grenada. They faked an amphibious assault in the Gulf War to confuse the Iraqis. The evacuation of the US embassy in Mogadishu in 1991 was an amphibious assault performed by SEALs and Marines. They made an unopposed amphibious landing in Somalia when we sent troops in. They made the longest amphibious assault in history in 2001 in Afghanistan. They had small amphibious teams going ashore for Recon at the beginning of the Iraq War.

once you're lifeless-set on being interior the infantry, you need to look at the two the army and Marine Corps. i replaced right into a Marine POG (workers different than Grunt). As a POG, i did not envy the grunts in any respect, yet I respected the hell out of them. they have it lots extra stable than any help unit. I enjoyed my activity interior the Marines. Now that i'm out and characteristic labored in Iraq and Afghanistan with the army for 3 years, i will certainly say that the army is probable the simpler thank you to bypass so a ways as Infantry. the army has far extra risk as an Infantryman, quicker promotions and simpler bonuses. you would be deployed way extra effective than the Marines are (for the period of a conflict), yet that may not unavoidably a bad factor. i'm going back interior the provider presently and that i'm nonetheless unsure approximately which branch (military or Marines). If i bypass Infantry, i'm transforming into a member of the army, yet as quickly as I do something different than Infantry i'm going Marines. purely being a Marine is great! i admire the sensation of united statesa. understanding that the Marines are the suited of the suited. it is not genuine in a great sort of circumstances, however the widespread public would not be attentive to. There are extra documentaries, video clips, and media with reference to the Marine Corps. The Marines definately stand out between the different branches and thanks to this i could connect the Corps back. yet while it is composed of the Infantry, the Marines get sh!t on. they actually do. They never have the suited kit and it infamous for them to declare, "Make do". After the conflict if over however, i think of the Marines are a simpler branch for traveling and seeing the international becuase we bypass out with the army for 6 months at a time. So, verify what you like out of your provider and make an eduacated determination.

When you first enlist & contact your recruiter, you tell them what kinds of MOS you're looking for. Depending on their quotas, the needs of the USMC, and the occasional tricks they pull, sometimes that job is full. Now, what you can do, is sign up for the DEP (delayed entry program) with an open-contract. Usually, an open contract means that you ship out and while you're in Basic Training the Corps decides what your position will be based on their needs. BUT, if you iron out what you want to do (infantry) before you ship, your spot should be guaranteed.

BTW, no one branch is better than the other at fighting. They differ in training, deployment, salary, and slogans. The Marines aren't better trained than the Army, and vice versa.

The USMC is the ultimate love hate relationship. I guarantee you that if you join it, you are going to be miserable many days and you are going to love it many days. There is no avoiding the fact that you will hate the USMC life on some days, especially if you pick the infantry MOS.

If you enlist with the 03xx/infantry MOS, that will be your job providing you pass infantry school. If you pick a different job, you wont be an infantryman.

And just so you know, not every infantry unit will train in amphibious ops. Many infantry Marines go their entire enlistment without ever being aboard a ship or without ever doing amphib ops.

Yes, the US Army guarantees you the job (MOS) that you signed up for. If it is available and you are medically/morally qualified and your ASVAB line scores support the job (MOS) that you want. The Army has INF units that do not jump out of planes.
