Seals and USAF Special tactics mentioned in Black hawk down?

Question

Why aren't the SEALs of Seal team six and the few air force special tactics members who were in the battle for Mogadishu recognized in black hawk down?

Rangers, Delta , 10th mountain, and the 160th were the only ones mentioned in the movie. but in the actual event, when delta was storming the objective building, there were also members of Seal Team six with them. However the movie does not say anything about Seal team six , or the air force combat controller there. ( and I think there was a pj there as well, not too sure about the pj though).


is there any reason they did not mention these guys?


I have not read the book "black hawk down" by mark bowden , could anyone who has read the book, tell me if the Seals actually involved were mentioned in the book, and the air force special tactics guys too.

In Black Hawk Down i think there is a PJ i'm pretty sure his name is Tim Wilkinson.

When Wolcott's Heli goes down, he ropes down and goes into the helicopter helping Dan Bush on to the Little Bird. And Sgt. Eversman calls him Wilky. But i'm not positive.

Because most of the men in Black Hawk Down were Rangers, Delta Operators, and the 160th SOAR. Navy SEALs weren't as well known in the battle as the Rangers and Delta Operators were. And yes the SEALs and PJ's were involved but not very many were. You NEED to read the book Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden it is amazing. I got a hard cover copy of it off of eBay for $1.98.

Time constrains often limit want a movie can cover. Several characters in the movie were actually a combination of actual people.



The SEALs and Air Force PJs are mentioned in Mark Bowden's "Black Hawk Down", the book that inspired the film.

The SEALs were in BEFORE Black Hawk Down occurred. PJs were involved in another battle I THINK. Do not quote me on that. The Medic in the crashed Black Hawk could have very well been a PJ, but if you're looking for the PJs involvement, its somewhere else in Mogadishu. I too am looking for their involvement.

in the movie they do show PJ's when the first black hawk goes down the soldiers that rope in into the black hawk to stabilize the crew are PJ's



as for Seal Team 6, hmm i need to re-read the book but good observation i was wondering the same thing

not sure good question but that battle was well documented 18 Rangers died and im not sure if the Seal team had much effect or what they did was secret and not to be known

a LOT of what SEALs do we will never know about and that's a good thing
