My boyfriend is going to Virginia for his BM1 school or whatever its called. (sorry I don't know the correct name, no offense intended) anyways, we won't be able to see each other for the three months he is there unless we fly back and forth and we are from Florida. I wanted to surprise him for our yearly aniversary and fly up to see him but I wanted to know if I could get a room on base or how all that works. we talked about me visiting about a month after this trip i'm planning and we wanted to see if i could just sneak in and stay with him kinda thing. i've gone to see him on base before in pensacola and everybody is always nice and just asks to see my drivers license and lets me on in. so is that how it will be when i go? and how hard is it to get a room and onto the base to see him at night?

You cannot book at room on base. For one thing, you can't even get on-base because you don't have an ID card. He must sign you when you arrive. You can't stay on-base because the "on-base hotel" is for traveling members only. It's for those traveling on official duty. Occasionally they have room openings but these are for active duty and retired members and thier families only. Your a girlfriend and I'm sorry to say but that means nothing to the military. There are a variety of places to stay off-base.

Pensacola is a totally different story because there is a Naval museum on the base so it is practically open to the public (as long as you show ID). Military bases do not just let you on with your drivers license. You must be signed on the base by an military member.

Depends on the base you go to. There's always been a room shortage for the ones I've stayed at, but I went there for ceremonies. They always keep rooms open for traveling Soldiers that need them, or so the desk clerks have told me.

so long as he has his own place OFF base then you will be fine......you will NOT be staying in the barracks rooms regardless of what he "thinks" Make sure your clothes are decent and NO rude words on a tshirt if you plan on going on base at all.

since you are not married, YOU cannot book any rooms on base., only he can..and because you are not on orders.. strictly on a Space available basis. on base lodging is for people on Orders for the most part. .

also, you cannot get on base unless he escorts you.

Most bases have a small hotel or motel on them for visitors or guests to stay in. Or at least the Air Force ones do.lol.
