The poster above is absolutely right. Any Army MP trying to sport a badge is on a huge power trip. Unless that person holds a CID (Criminal Investigations Division) billet or is a credentialed investigator there is no badge.

Please google US Army regulation AR 670-1.

Sorry not an mp but I was doing criminal justice back at fort campbell. I was trying to do the whole police officer thing. Even without being an mp and just having army background puts you in a better spot than normal joes with an degree. But of course with mp expierence yea you'll be straight but! Remember you need to get away from a military base when applying for this police officer job. That was my mistake, your army background doesn't help if it's near an army post. To much of the same competition, so go to a place where they don't have much military. Back in 2003 there was a little holding facility on base in Mosul. The mp's there would basicly watch them and do there thing. I know they go out on road patrols and what now also. Don't really know much about that so not gonna say. Just take my advice on the first part, I would say its dangerous.

I am a former military police investigator and I can tell you that a MP who is sporting or displaying a mp badge depending on the circumstances can be charged with Art 134 UCMJ . As a MPI I carried a MP Badge, 45 and a MP-5 , we wore civilian clothes, we had authority overseas only on US Forces members. Both on and off the military installations.

For the Record MPs are allowed to have the physical MP badge but are not authorized to use the badge in any form of arrest while off duty, it is allowed to be displayed in their vehicle or wallet. You will not be charged with a UCMJ for owning a Military Police Badge as long as your are MOSQ and you are on active MP orders

I am a former MP and no, you dont get a badge. I have seen some people (MPs on a power trip) who bought one through some catalog, but you are not issued a badge, only a brassard, which is an arm cuff that goes on the upper part of your arm. However, I think with ACU's it is just a velcro patch that says MP.

I'm an MP on Fort Hood and we dont have a physical badge. We have a black/gray subdued velcro badge that is on our second chance vest. We aren't issued any wallet carry badges or anything along those lines and im pretty sure you could get in trouble under the UCMJ for trying to sport one.

As a former MP and MPI, you are not issued a badge. MPI are given credentials but no badge. You can buy one, but so can a 12 year old. I have one, but it was given to me by my commander. A badge is meaningless to a MP or MPI.

I was an MP and have an Obsolete US Army Police Shield/Badge (no shine insignia) made by The Institute of Heraldry certificate number S38 that I wish to sell.

As a former MP we were only issued a badge with our weapons when we were in our dress greens. It was the commander of the posts choice as to how he wanted his MPs to be uniformed.

I was an MP at Ft. Hood (411th MP Co.) from 1982-84. We were issued medal badges that we attached to our uniform over our left breast pocket with our weapon each shift which we then turned in with the weapon at end of shift.

Air Force doesn't have MP's, they have SF's (Security Forces). Just an FYI

Im a Regular Garrison MP and yes i currently have a badge, but only an MPI, an LT, another Specialist and I have badges in an entire battalion and we had to request pur badges, ive had my badge ever since i was an E-2 PVT, then again i has to request it and people that dont know the AR-670-1 usually come up to me to tell me how "im wearing an unauthorized badge" how its "not official" blah blah blah, only for me to **** them up seconds later with some knowledge... had a Master Sergeant get on my **** once, so i educated him and ended up proven right by the Battalion Command Sergeant Major and the Brigade Commander O6 sooo yeah, i was an E-3 at the time
