American F/A-18 Hornet vs Iranian F-14, who would win in a dogfight?

Considering that the US would be launching their offensive off of their aircraft carriers, the F-15's would be much riskier in a combat situation since US ME air bases are within missile range. The dual would come from the American Super Hornet and the main Iranian F-14's still in service that guard the vital infrastructure. The F-14 is an air superiority fighter armed with the existing AIM-54 Phoenix AA missiles the Iranians still have, which outmatch anything the F-14 carries. Iran would also have the viability advantage since ground radars can transmit data to the pilot. Which one would win?

By default I'd say F-18 they'd just need to drop some bombs on the F-14's. Though assuming the F-14's are regularly operational and we simply don't see one occasionally as part of a PR stunt the first question is how are the Iranian's keeping them airborne.

Now as for the isue of F-18 vs F-14 in general it would depend on the version and the fight and how they are armed..but I'll go with a modern F-18.

first there is the issue of the AIM-54 vs AIM-120C. I'm not sure the AIM-54 has had any air to air kills. The F-14 was designed to be an interceptor using the AIM-54 missiles to shoot down cruise missiles and bombers from over 100 miles away.

The Aim-120C and the new AIM-120D are long range versions of the AMMRAAM which were designed to shoot down fighters in the AIM-54's engagement range.

Unless the Iranian F-14's are packing radars from MiG-31's modern F-18's have every advantage here. The F-14 might have the most skilled RIO but F-18E would have a computer system from the late 1990's which would be more powerful than the most powerful super computer in the 1970's.

As much as I hate to say this because I'm a huge fan of jet fighter aircraft and the F-14 Tomcat is at the top of my list of all time for jet fighters but, the F/A-18 hornet will win because our fighter pilots are better trained and are very skilled when it comes to operating aircraft, but if the U.S. Navy was still flying F-14s, there would be no doubt about it that the F-14 would win in a dog fight with the F/A-18. Besides the F-14 has more experience and an impressive resume in Air-to-Air battles than the F/A-18 Hornet.

The Navy and Marine Corps wins considering we have been flying the Super Hornets and Hornets for some time. Most of the Iranian air aces from their war in the 80s are either dead or too old to fly. They don't have spare parts for their Tomcats and you have to consider how many frames are airworthy and how many are grounded. No doubt they have been cannibalizing with their aircraft. Sidewinders and AMRAAMs have made plenty of AA kills.

They do have OTH radar and low-frequency stealth detecting radar that would, combined with modern SAMs, would do damage. I'd be careful if I were in the Navy because Iranian missiles pack a punch.
