Question:
Army branch options after West Point?
?

I am a junior in high school and am considering applying to West Point. I have been researching different branches that I can chose to enter after I graduate. I do not want to be in a direct combat branch, and I am also interested in psychology, so I have been looking at the Psychological Operations branch. Some of the sites I've been looking at say different things about that branch, some saying that this branch was only for the enlisted. Is that true? I have also looked at the Military Corps, and the Medical Corps, but I wasn't sure if I could go into those directly after graduation.

I am also interested in the Air Force Academy, and think I would be interested in flying. However, I wanted to know if there were any branches other than aviation that I could go into after graduating from the afa if I decide that aviation isn't for me?

I would really appreciate answers. I haven't been able to find the ones I have been looking for.

You need to reconsider if you do not want to be in combat operations, as Military careers depend upon combat experience, but as my clone pointed out, and never trust a clones advice, do contact your congressman now as appointments are limited

@ the clone you are using my name not your own and have cloned my account which makes you anything but creditable

You will be able to choose from among most of the branches in the Army during your senior year. You are doing the right thing by trying to get information, but quite frankly branch opinions change as you develop at the academy and learn more about them. I think it's important to determine whether you think Army (or air force) life interests you, particularly the leadership roles of officership. The branch after graduation is less important because all lieutenants will be expected to be positive examples for their soldiers and there is a certain degree of similarity.

As to your specifics: PsyOps have most of their units in the reserves, so no, that would not be an option from West Point. You definitely could choose military police, and up to approx. 1% of the class can go directly to medical school upon graduation, so medical corps is an option if you do well academically and major in the appropriate sciences.

Short answer regarding air force: Yes, there are lots of other non-pilot opportunities relating to intelligence, communication, logistics, etc, for officers. The army also has aviation (helicopters), and that is an option from West Point, too.

Go to the summer leader seminar if you are able. It's a great introduction to the academy, and you'll have access to cadets and officers directly!

Branch choices coming out of USMA are:

IN - Infantry

AR - Armor

AV - Aviation

EN - Engineer Corps

MP - Military Police

CM - Chemical Corps

FA - Field Artillery

AD - Air Defense Artillery

SC - Signal Corps

MI - Mil Intel

OD - Ordnance

QM - Quartermaster

TC - Transportation

FI - Finance

AG - Adjutant General

CM - Chemical

MS - Medical Services

If you are female you cannot branch infantry, armor, and parts of field artillery. Medical Services is difficult to get and usually has only a few slots available. Selecting your branch is based on class rank at the beginning of your senior (first-class) year. If you want to branch MS you need to ranked pretty high.

Weigh all your options and the clone (level5) of Mr. Grass (level 7) is a coward who obviously detests those who serve or he would use his rightful name

research all of your options and then apply via your congressional rep. appointments are limited.

What you need to do right now is start writing your congressman to write you a letter of recommendation to those schools. Otherwise your application will not even process.

Not a clone, unlike the 16 sock puppet accounts you use to vote yourself the best answer.
