I graduated from AMU with my Master's in Public Administration and a concentration in Security Management. AMU was established by a former Marine that wanted to have the education and availability all in one. AMU's professors are top of line that have hands on experience with what they are teaching. Since AMU is an on-line school, professor are actually out in the field working while they are teaching. The professors completely understand what it is like to have a family, work and other responsibilities while trying to achieve your degree.
I achieved my goal being a mom of three young children. I was able to take classes at my leisure but they best part of this experience was my kids were sitting next to me the entire time.
I now work for the Department of Veterans Affairs - Federal job - and the fact of having my Master's is a great joy. AMU is everything and more.

Hi there. I am a graduate of AMU and have nothing but wonderful things to say. I got my degree in Business Administration and it is a very strong degree to have. I even went on to a local school in NJ for my Masters.
My situation with AMU was: My husband was deployed in the Middle East (Bahrain) and I was there as well. I worked full time and had very little time for school. I enrolled in AMU. I was eligible for the book program, and got free books shipped to me for each semester. There was a LONG list of options for electives, and I was able to pick classes that really fit my life. For instance, I was working at a small PR firm in Bahrain, and I picked an elective called Small Business Management. It was awesome because what I learned online in class directly applied to what I did each day, and my school projects all helped me out since they applied to work. It made school a lot more bearable - and my grades meant more in context!
In addition, the school was SO flexible. I did work on weekends and evenings. I took part in webinars and also emailed with fellow students. There is an online site for classes and homework that makes it all so seamless. There was no need for a physical classroom - I had thought that would be so important, but in the end, it was SO flexible and I had just as much contact with my professors and fellow students. Please email me if you have any questions. I can't speak for UMUC or the other schools that posters mentioned...but I can tell you that one of the best choices I ever made was to pursue my education at AMU. I wish you all the best of luck, and I am here if you have more questions.

I've taken a class with them. That one course wasn't very challenging. But it was the introductory "Research Methods" class, so that might be why.
They are REGIONALLY accredited which is more important that National Accreditation, if you ever want your credits to transfer to a different.
I like their choice of majors, but like the first poster said, it might be better to go with a university that is not only online. Look at University of Maryland University College, Embry-Riddle, Park University, Troy State University, St Leo University, etc.

I have done a class with them.I am not a fan. They are listed by the Dept. of Education though as an accredited instituition. They fall under American Public Universities or something like that.I would not recommend them.Go with a more respective aka brand name college.

I did my master's with them and I think their great. Never had a problem with them, everything is really straight-forward and if you're an undergraduate, your books are free.
