There were no aircraft carriers bombed during the invasion of normandy. There wasn't any carriers even close to that theatre of operations.

There were to my knowledge no American aircraft carriers involved in the Normandy invasion. With the giant island of Great Britain literally a stones throw away and full of hundreds of permanent air bases there is nothing a carrier could have contributed.

There were, contrary to uninformed opinion above, plenty of carriers in the Atlantic fleet, but they did not participate in the Normandy landings.

I am not sure that any carriers were involved in the invasion of normandy. I've been looking myself and compared this list (http://www.jeroenkoppes.com/ww2/ships/default.asp) of ships involved with this list (http://www.ww2pacific.com/carriers.html) of carriers. You may want to just look for carriers bombed elsewhere on 6 June 1944.

I don't think that the U.S. Navy used any carriers for invasion. Mainly troop transport vessels and planes taking off from England. No need for carriers.

All carriers were in the Pacific theater. We had none in Europe that I recall.

The following are is an operational loss table for the Normandy invasion taken from Navy archives. No carriers were damaged, however, one seaplane tender was categorized as 'lost'. The numbers do not indicate the number of craft sunk, rather the roster or slot number assigned to a particular vessel. Hope it helps.

Please Note: The Above list of operational losses at Normandy was prepared prior to the strong storm which struck the invasion beaches at midnight of 18-19 June and abated on 22 June. Strong winds, powerful waves, heavy surf and high tides damaged or sank numerous vessels, in particular, small craft. These losses were not combat losses, though they occurred during the invasion period. Although we have not located a complete list of vessels sunk or damage in the storm, such a list may exist within Navy records relating to the invasion located at the Modern Military Branch, National Archives, 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD 20740.
