Look, i know everyone keeps saying that its comparing two totally different things but i am getting ready to enlist and it has always been a goal of mine to get into a spec ops unit, just deciding which road to go down is the hard part, Army Rangers or MARSOC. Basically, what i am looking for is kind of an overview of the two side by side. EX: I have a breif idea of what they do, well probably as much as you CAN find out, so training wise, what they do, and which road would be better to take. Thanx

You make it sound as if anyone can become a Marine...

How about first you decide if you want to become a Marine or a Soldier..The two are not the same thing and once you have decided this you will have your answer..

Both elite units are top quality..Enough of the who is better stuff..Do you really think there are bad US units out there?

If you opt for the ranger regiment, and make it, you have got a entire lot of choices for you long term profession. You perhaps equipped to get into Delta Force later, and also you would pass Special Forces, or keep within the Ranger Regiment. The Marines are rather good run, good expert ordinarily. I have run into a few Recon Marines. I in my view would not do this. Their process is to sneak round and conceal and watch matters, and to not battle until wanted. Same for Army LRRS. The SEALS and Special Forces do a entire lot of that too. MARSOC is a entire lot like Delta or the SEALS in phrases in their missions, however they're type of a moment string drive. I believe the Rangers, regardless that, have the exceptional of specific forces, marine recon, MARSOC, and SEALS and such, be given they're an assault drive. Most of the time the ones different models aren't an attacking drive. Ther are critical disorders with the best way the SEALS obsess over their anphibous advantage too. I believe the SEALs cognizance means an excessive amount of on their specific anphibious competencies and means too little on well historical-long-established flooring battle competencies. They have a tendency to believe that they're invisible and bullet-evidence, they generally tend to leisure on thier laurels, they usually endure for it. The SEALS will parachute into the sea, scuba dive to a place at the seaside and stroll five miles, once they would have simply as without problems landed in a helecopter and walked 10 miles with much less possibilities of being obvious. It is as though on account that they're the one men and women who can do this sort of factor that theyt continuously do this kidn of factor, even it's is not the first-class strategy to get the process performed. But, the preliminary coaching is rather difficult, and no one can do particularly what they are able to do so far as going anyplace.

MARSOC is much more difficult to get into. You can enlist with Ranger in your Army contract (Option 40). Pass the 4 week RIP and boom you're a Ranger.

To be a MARSOC Operator you need at least 2 years as either (preferably) Rifleman or Recon man. The pipeline is so much longer than that of the Ranger pipeline.

Also, you must take note that as of right now, MARSOC operators (not all) will be tossed back into the Corps after 5ish years. Some are fortunate enough to stay MARSOC forever, but not all.

You can be a Ranger your whole career. You can also eventually try out for the big D if you so choose.

Army has a bigger enlistment bonus. Corps has a bigger re-enlistment bonus.

Also, though you may be a Ranger, you'll still be an 11b or whatever MOS you choose. There is no Ranger MOS. In the Corps, Recon is an MOS. I imagine that might help when it comes time for promotions and whatnot, seeing how there's less than 2,000 Recon Marines and probably tens of thousands of 11b Army Infantrymen.

MARSOC - long very hard road

Ranger - short but still hard road

It's your choice. They're both hardcore and badass.

Choices choices.. the road is wide and open :))) yes my friend that is the truth and the choice is.. YOURS!!!!!! anyway i want to be a ranger too.. but for now i need to lose 8lbs till sept1 b4 i go to physical check up in MEPS or army wont accept coz im 5'4 with 186lbs.. im afraid ill just break all the ropes im gona use as a ranger coz of my weight eheh but i think Rangers get more bonus in terms of money coz they are Army.. army has lots of money from the senate oh yes... Marines hmmm whatever branch u are in Marines u will always have a nice name.. a Marine.. a tough stuff with a nice coconut haircut :) Rangers have more time with family i think .. I THINK ok? since theyre in the army. Army is a lil friendly to family time also. If im gona choose... ill go rangers.. the training is so fun.. you jump from airplane to sea like airborne and sea trainin stuffs.

Edited for RAAB

Did i mention anything to degrade the army you ignorant fool? I love the army and its gona be my life so dnt talk trash on me you low life coz ur not my drill instructor u scumbag. And i know enough about the army and i dnt know if u know what i know coz u dnt know me okay AHOLE? Go screw urself numbnut!

Ok, you want to be a badass. You want to be the best of the best. Understandable. What if I told you that you couldnt become a Ranger for whatever reason. Now instead of doorkicking and being your dream you are doing some stupid army job building bridges or using robots or something. Nothing wrong with that but thats not what you want right?:

Now your in the Marines. You decide to join up to try for Marsoc. You dont make it. However your still a Marine. You still have the option of being a Recon Badass. and if you dont make that you are still an infantry marine. Your a badass. the best of the best.

The decision is yours im just stating the truth and the what you really have to think about.

There is no greater pride of being a United States Marine, no matter what you do in the corps.

Now it depends what you want to do in life. If you want a military career forever or if you want to do this for a couple years then get out.

Im not familiar with Marsoc exactly, but I am familiar with Force Recon. They go behind enemy lines, could be back there for days on end. They gather info and intelligence and get out. Nothing stops them. They are trained to call in airstrikes, free fall into combat zones. and are good in the water. Hopefully someday ill be able to show my pride of being one of the few, but till then i can only dream

good luck on ur decision. i hope you achieve your goal, and if you dont that you still have a good old badass time

That dude please you son of a bit** you know nothing of the Army so dont talk sh*t about it. If you fail RIP youll be going to an Airborne Unit which has just as much pride as the Marines. Hey Fatbody who thinks Army Ranger training is fun your in for one hell of a time when you hit BCT. In the rare event that you even make it through Airborne training Good luck at RIP. Both are very highly specialized so making it into either one is something to be proud of.

Fatbody i said hardly anything to you and you *** is sore! Have a fun time in the Army. Hope you dont talk to your superiors the way you talk to me or you'll be on the ground an awful lot.

Rangers are more Hardcore and harder to get into and stay in. Marines don't even compete with Rangers the majority of Marine Corps canidates who attend Ranger School Fail and those are Force Recon guys. If you fail the Ranger Indoc you wont get some dumb job you'll be in Airborne which is still a good infantry job. You make through this you still have ranger school, in this you will wake up for a weak and run five miles and PT all day after this starve, lead patrols, climb cliffs, hike up mountains, and three hours of sleep daily, then at the end 25-30 miles ruck march to finish with 45 pounds all day and every day . Then APFT test fail anything your *** is going to Airborne. Rangers are badass.

MARSOC has the same job of Green berets and SEALs. despite what these guys say of being able to be a Recon Marine about free falling and being behind enemy lines they only do that in training and the FR lost their air wing so they don't work as well.

Not that I'm saying Marines suck they're are good at what they do but Army Special Operations are the best infantrymen in the world. If we go into Iran and you're a Ranger You'll be hitting airfields and other high value targets from jumping out of planes, repelling from Helicopter before any Marine sets foot in Country. While Bush gave his speech on Iraq Rangers were en route.

Army is family friendly except for the 12 month deployments. Ranger train as they fight with live rounds and at night. Marines are Deployed for 7 months and don't train as hard.
