Firstly, I know not every Regiment has an RSM. Do you know which Regiments do?

I want to join the Army and one day be R.S.M, that is my ultimate goal. I am young and I know I have a long way to go, but how can I give myself the best chance of one days becoming R.S.M? What qualities are looked for, and how is the R.S.M selected? Do they still see combat are are they solely concerned with on-base discipline and training?

Thanks for all serious answers.

Regimental Sergeant Major, also known as Warrant officer would take about 25 years for an ordinary rank to reach that status. They are the next down from a commisioned officer.

Have you thought about joining the cadets?
