I'm a freshman at a large (2,000+) high school. For my first semester I had a 3.9 GPA (unweighted). Currently, I'm a year ahead in math (Geometry) and I'm Taking Honors English, Honors Biology, and AP World History. In may I will be taking the AP exam. For my extra circulars, I'm been in JCL (Latin Club) for two years. This year marks my second year of 4-h. I'm also a member of the Speech and Debate team (this was my first year). Oh, and I"m a member of my church's youth group. For my athletics, I was on the Freshman Basketball team. I was a decent player (guard/small forward) and got to start two games. Right now I'm in Track for Long Distance. For leadership I am currently the elected 4-h reporter, was the Novice House leader of Congress Debate (organize congress participants at meets), Former Vice president of Builder's Club (community service club in eighth grade). This weekend I will be attending the JCL state convention for the second time. At the convention I will be running for Corresponding secretary (I'll probably get the position). For community service, I've been on a week-long missions trip to the inner city and attending a wilderness camp where for two days we did missions work.
Any more activities I should be involved in?
What are my chances to get in?
What is the academy like, and what do you do when you're out of the academy?

You've got a good start. Keep up everything you are doing to stay competative. The things you have done in 8th grade wont do anything for you though, in fact I think they may only ask for what you have done from 10th and on. In addition to what you are already doing I would suggest taking PSAT/SAT/ACT prep courses and taking them as often as possible.

You have plenty of time to get ready but it won't hurt to know what you have coming. Look into the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA) and what your congressman requires for a nomination (not to be confused with an appointment) When the time comes you should also apply for the Summer Seminar.

Visit and read through all the info on the Academy website and it will help you understand what it is like there. Additionally, each year around thanksgiving cadets go to their hometowns and visit high schools, look for the cadets each year and ask them what is currently going on and what their thoughts are about the Academy. Good Luck.

From your resume you sound like you as active in many groups and take some small part in helping to manage those groups it would also help if you can seek advice from your local congressperson they many times have the power of appointment or if not they can hook you up with the person that can. I wish you well and hope you realize you dream. By they way after graduation you will be required to serve in the military for at least 4 years or more.

Just by means of studying the best way you ask your query I might say no. Just considering you're "making plans" to run for sophistication president approach not anything. Make definite you've got stellar grades and and great ethical individual. You desire a advice out of your congressman.
