what are all the steps to dispatching a military vehicle? i'm thinking about joining the guard and a buddy of mine told me that this is one of the things he has to do, so i was just curious as to what all the steps are in order to properly dispatch a military vehicle, like a humvee???

The other poster has no clue what he's talking about, he's thinking about the civilian emergency community.

It's easy and something you do pretty much weekly:

PMCS the vehicle (basic checkup)

Take the PCS sheet, the request for dispatch, and your military drivers liscence to the Motorpool chief

Sign for the vehicle

That's about it, your CoC fills out most everything aside from the PMCS and a few signatures

All that dispatching is is allowing a vehicle to be used instead of sitting in the motor pool

I do not know how the Guard and reserves dispatch a vehicle without a motorpool personnel...but in th Active army your NCO fills out the dispatch form, the soldier goes down to the motorpool to get it dispatched by the Motorpool NCO after a PMCS is done on the vehicle.

I have no idea how the reserves dispatch an off post dispatch, that is another process altogether.

all Five Branches respond. The Navy provides Hospital ships, Marines and Army provide ground personnel for security and Search and Rescue, and the AF provides air drops and the CG provides maritime security.
