Withdrawl of troops in Iraq?

Question

I will be honest. I haven't shown the interest I should have in the war in Iraq, but I'm trying to learn more about it now. Here's my question: If we begin to steadily withdraw troops from Iraq, what will happen? What will happen once we have no troops in Iraq at all?

My parents think withdrawing would be a huge mistake, and I haven't done enough research to really have an opinion. I appreciate all opinions and answers! Thanks!

The only result of continued occupation will be increasing governmental debt for the U.S. and more dead and injured American soldiers. Military contractors such as Halliburton are being enriched. The Bush administration has no idea of what they mean by "victory", nor does Tony Blair in England.

I believe we should pull the troops out. We are loosing too many soldiers/other service members everyday. We were suppose to go and hunt the people who brought down the Twin Towers, but yet we ended up in Iraq, and spend more time there, than in Afgahnistan. Our soldiers go over miss time with their families, birthdays, and whatever else happens. I think once or even if we pull the troops out, they might retalitate and come over here and cause problems with us, but we need to let them stand on their two feet with out the power of Saddam nor his people. I think if we take a small protion of troops out here and there, it will show the Iraqi Government that they need to stand up and take their postitions cause we can't always be 911 to all the other countries.

Withdrawl of troops in Iraq...hmmm. I think troops MUST withdraw in Iraq..why? Because if you don't withdraw, they are risking themselves for protecting a country that has no chance of bringing peace. Let's see Sunnis, Shiites will keep fighting with one another. If we " Cut &Run" from Iraq it will prove to the world what our enemies have been saying for years. The US will help defend you but the moment things start to get rough they will act like a little child & run home for safty. We RAN in Viet Nam , we Ran in Somila & now some want us to run again. As in any military deployment once engaged its very hard to get out. An orderly withdrawal is one of the hardest things to do

, as the number of troops go down the ones remaining will be more vulnerable to attacks. But its all just a huge civil/religious war so matter when we leave theres gonna be some huge conflagration, several factions are all going to try and grab power at once and try to slaughter any opposition. Alls I know is that boot camp for our boys lasts about 8 to 10 weeks then they insert them into veteran units like an intern thing. Havent we been there for about 3 years now????? There should be waaaaaaaaaaay more progress with their boys.

Also Bush should tuck his tail between his legs and get International help. Unfortunately I dont think he can bring himself to do it

I think that is what we were doing before there was a spike in terrorism. I think that if we did that now, then terrorists would all grab a stranglehold on Iraq and fight for power until a new Saddam Heussain arose. Here is my take on the subject.

We need to stay, but we also need to push (force) the Iraq government and it's people to come up with a solution to their problem. OR, take matters into our own hands and force a solution of our own choosing.

We have freed the people of Iraq and they will either except it and live a better life or they won't. Unfortunately, if they choose to continue to live in uproar, as is their m.o., we will have to take matters into our own hands for the sake of our country and others.

Pulling out would leave us in worse shape than we were before 9-11.

Many innocent Iraqis would be murdered by Radical Islamic Extremists. Many of the murdered would be small children.
