What was a non-military result of American troops taking hills / high ground in the thinking of indigenous tribal groups?

The Vietnamese thought that there was gold in the hills and the Americans were after the gold.

First of all if you do decide to "look it up" it will be considered plagiarism. Its not that hard to create a question, you already have the freaking answer. Seriously, are our children getting this bad of an education these days? The internet alone opens up the doors for this kind of problem solving. Do yourself a favor and do your work on your own and make it original. If the people on these forums are as smart and I think they are they'll say the same. This is an easy cop out for class work.

I can think of a few areas worth exploring...

FIRST.... During the American revolution several nations pledged their help in helping us win our freedom. Von Stuben was a German soldier who turned farmers into soldiers. LaFayette was French and considered a national hero. There are literally hundreds of cities named after him. The Germans sent entire military unit. The French fought the British in the Caribbean and caused the British to linger in Yorktown afraid of an exposed southern flank. Without their aid it probably would have been much more difficult if not impossible to have won our independence.

Vietnam was supposed to have a plebiscite to unite the country.... indications were the more populous North Vietnam....supported by Russia and China.... would probably carry that vote.... throwing South Vietnam into the communist camp....... something that many of the less numerous South Vietnamese either did not want.. In addition the existence of a communist Vietnam could and likely would influence communist movements in Cambodia, Laos and Thailand creating more havoc and unrest.

So why is it heroic for France and Germany to help America win it's freedom but a crime for America to help it's friend try to keep it's freedom and protect other nation in the region?

SECOND North Korean forces met with UN forces and sighed a Peace Treaty (Armistice) dividing the Korean peninsula into North and South . That is considered a WIN for American forces and our allies.

North Vietnam met with America and South Vietnam and signed an actual Peace Treaty dividing Vietnam into North and South ending the war. America took ALL its combat troops and went home. TWO years after we went home.... North Vietnam broke the treaty and conquered South Vietnam. America was not even there to fight but that is considered a LOSS for America...... How is that even logically possible?

I could put MY answers but I think it is fairly obvious what they would be..... be MORE curious as to how the opposition responds

EDIT Got opposition....but I noticed they did not bother to explain their disagreement.......
