Army ALC question?

Hello,
My husband is slotted to go to ALC, and he is also being deployed overseas for 9 months, leaving the same month that he gets back from being in ALC.
I am already sad about the fact that we will lose over a month that we could have been spending family time with him and our son, and I am pretty sure he will not get any time off between coming back from ALC and being sent overseas.
My question is, can he drive home on the weekends? He has them off for sure, but the base he is going to for ALC is about 250 miles from where we live. I would just like to be able to squeeze in any time we can get, and travelling to see him is more difficult with we have a very young baby who doesn t handle car rides well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a max range that people can go based on the amount of time they have off. Can't remember exactly what it is for a normal weekend. Of course, that doesn't stop everyone from going past the limit. Just know that if something happens (i.e. wreck) to him while he's outside the limit he could get in trouble. Keep in mind though that if the max distance is say, 200 miles, that is straight line distance. So just because Google Maps says it's 250 miles you might still be ok based on the fact that it is giving you the actual distance including turns.

250 miles is likely outside of the max allowed distance he can go.

He is going to have duty basically every weekend cleaning and pulling CQ. He can get a pass if they approve it. Otherwise no.

if they don't have anything planned I don't see why he couldn't do what he wants if weekends are off.
