I have a couple questions regarding weapons you can carry with you in the millitary.

1) Can you have a personal weapons with you while on active duty? This is in regards to firearms and cold steel weapons.
2) If not, can you bring them with you and keep them at base, or such, or can you not have any what-so-ever?

That all depends on your MOS. If you are a Lima then you are clerical and I am sure your CO would probably not allow this. Also are you a PVT1 or are you an Officer. This makes the difference also. When you get assigned to a location/base you will better know. Rules concerning this vary from base to base. Note I said Rules. Oversee bases are less strict in this manner and who your CO is as well. What you may be told by one person may not apply to you. Its also about who you know and how well. But in most cases if you are a no body then No to your answer.

If you live on post, you must turn your personal weapons over to your unit's arms room. You can sign it out to go to the range but part of signing it out you have to say where you are taking it and when you will return it. When transporting it, it must be in a secure container or have a gun lock on it.

There are also strict regulations for those that live off post and bring a weapon on base.

You are not allowed to use privately owned weapons in the military.

If your in the barracks, you must keep weapons in your unit armory and registered with the post Judge Advocate

If your in post housing, you can keep them at home, but they still must be registered

You cannot keep them in your car.

2. knives - your Not supposed to keep even knives in the barracks, but in reality, everyone does, you just keep them locked up in your locker.

3. You cannot carry any weapon while on a military post , unless its issued to you and authorized.

Pocket knives do not count, but even they must meet blade length laws for the state you are in.

IE: you cannot carry a fixed bladed knife around with you.

4. You have to obey all civilian weapon laws while in the military.

you can have them, just not on base or in your pov while on base. You have to tell the MP,s usually they make you stick them in a locker or take them home. It depends on the base, the commander usually has the choice as to what to allow or disallow
