Name a country.

And I wouldn't count on the 1x every four years.

I've had friends who go every other year and other people who go once every 6-7 years. Depends on your career field and the base you are at.

The military will deploy you where ever the need is and whenever. Generally most branches of the military will deploy more than once during a 4 year career depending on where you are stationed. From my experience the air force goes on shorter deployments than the marines or army. In the Army I was stationed at Schofield Hawaii and deployed on average 3 times a year for about 30 to 60 days at a time.

I'm Active Duty Air Force and I am currently stationed at a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Afghanistan. Airmen go where ever the Army goes. Of course it depends on your AFSC but at this FOB we have Civil Engineering, Intel, Security Forces, Contracting, Medical, Spec Ops, TACP, just about everything except for pilots and maintainers. In today's military, the Air Force is back filling a lot of the Army's short taskings. So the requirement of a runway and planes for Air Force to be there is just said by people who are ignorant to how the modern military works.

All military members can deploy, and the number of times you will deploy are dependent on military needs. I have a friend who is in the AF as an enlisted soldier- he's been deployed/stationed in: the Australian outback, Iraq, Japan, etc.. The military is a temperamental woman who will change her mind a whim.

On a side note, I've heard military members can go on humanitarian missions which are pretty awesome while they're in an area. A friend of mine was in Africa and they did work with a village. He said it was a great experience.

it really depends on your job and you unit and several other factors. you could never deploy or you could deploy frequently and you could end up going to lots of places... Iraq or Afghanistan or even other states. I have a friend who was "deployed" to Georgia. like I said, it all depends but dont rely on that "once in four years" thing, its not very accurate.

That is a very vague question. However it would depend on two things.

One, what is going on in the world at the time.

Two, based on your job title anywhere in the world as needed by the Air Force.

If your job title is one where they have needs to fill at multiple locations they may ask your preference but ultimately they will put you anywhere.
