Were Marines dispatched to Europe in World War II?

Or were the Marines reserved for the invasion of Japan? Also, were there any troops from the Army dispatched to Japan?
I was just curious.

I don't know about Marines in Europe., but my grandfather ( Army) was in the Pacific for 3 years. Also, US Army troops were involved in the invasion of Okinowa ( which is part of Japan, ) the occupation of Japan, and Army troops are still there.
Also, the Army was responsible for the bombing and non-Navy air operations against Japan. The Army Air Force, ( as it was known then) did not become a seperate branch of the military until after WWII was over.

No Marine Corps units were deployed to Europe during WWII. They soley concentrated on fighting the Japanese in the Pacific. There may have been a few Marines who fought in Europe because they were assigned to a Navy ship as part of the ships security and there were some Marines in the OSS (WWII unit that was similar to the CIA) but as far as larger Marine Corps forces, none were in EUrope.
There were many Army units that fought in the Pacific. Particularly in the Battles for Saipan, Pearl Harbor, and Okinawa.

From the very beginning (1775), small units of Marines have been attached to US Navy Ships to provide security and to act as naval infantry. Some of them probably made it ashore, so, in that sense, Marines were sent to Europe.
More accurately, Marines were never intentionally deployed en masse in the ETO. They, along with Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Army Air Corps units operated in the Pacific.

US Navy ships do have detachments of Marines for certain duties. Whether this practice started during or after WW II, I cannot say.
No Marine combat units were used in Europe during WW II. The Marines, along with the Army and Navy, and Army Air Corps, were used in all the island campaigns in the Pacific during World War II.
Correction: Army Air Corps was used in the Pacific but not necessarily in island campaigns. US Navy fighters and fighter bombers did the bidding during island campaaigns. The US army wasn't always involved in island campaigns. Sometimes its involvment was mopping up after the main battles were completed.
The Army Air Corps was assigned to the heavy bombing od Japan, including the dropping of Atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Yes but not as many as in Japan. Most marines were saved for the Japan full invasion if that were necessary but it never happened.
