I took it once in high school and once before enlisting but that was 20+ years ago. All I remember is that I was told I scored a 95% which opened up every job available. Thanks.

Yeah, you were in the 95th percentile meaning you did better than 95% of the other people who took it. So 99% is the best you can get.

I suppose it's possible that in the history of the ASVAB there's that one person who has 100, meaning they did better than everyone else. But since it's more likely that at least two people have absolutely aced it that takes us back to 99.

Being in the 99th percentile, is the highest score you can recieve.

Scoring a 99 on the savab, does not necessarily open up every job.

Only 4 of the 9 sub test on the asvab,

Are used to calculate your asvab score.

Your could ace those 4 areas and bomb the other 5 areas,

Which would limit the jobs you qualify for.

The GT score, is not used as a qualifying score for any job in the military.

It is only used as a secondary score

The asvab uses:

Word Knowledge (WK),

Paragraph Comprehension (PC),

Arithmetic Reasoning (AR),

Mathematics Knowledge (MK)..

The asvab does not use:

GS General Science

AS Auto and Shop

MC Mechanical Comprehension

EI Electronics Information

AS Assembling Objects

To calculate your overall asvab score.

The GT score is - WK, PC, AR and MK

While the above is true, that score can change depending on how others score. The first time I took it, I got a 97%. 4 years later I got a 77% with the same score sets. Everyone else just did better.

What really matters and opens up the doors is your GT score.
