KA-Bar was first adopted by the United States Marine Corps in November 1942 as the 1219C2 Combat Knife (later designated the USMC Mark 2 Combat Knife or Knife, Fighting Utility), and subsequently adopted by the United States Navy as the U.S. Navy Utility Knife, Mark 2. -wiki.

You know some Soldiers probably had brothers or friends who got them a KA-bar. I'm sure it made its way to the ETO. It was a USMC knife though and therefore not issued to the Army.

The Army had it's own version called a Bayonet.

Same idea... but the Marine weapon was better built.
