What do you think the "Real" reason was for invading Iraq back in 2003?

You ask me... I think Congress just wanted to get their oil reserves. We are oil hungry. They were oil rich. Coincidence?

Saddam Hussein was a pain in the ***.
It wasn't the Iraqi oil - we could have bought all of their oil for what a war costs. But it did have to do with continued threats to other countries in the region and their oil. Can you imagine the leverage Hussein would have had over them if he did develop a bomb?
Remember, he invaded Iran and Kuwait, tried to assasinate former President Bush (Sr.), was paying the families of Palestinian suicide bombers, was firing on allied planes in the no-fly zone, and did not account for weapons or cooperate with inspectors as required by his agreement to the terms of the Gulf War truce, among other things.. We'll face the same problem if Iran develops their bomb.
The real problem was the intelligence agencies not getting it right. That is what should continue to be addressed. The political attacks and recriminations are a distraction from solving that problem. Let's focus on what needs to be done to get things right, rather than on who's the biggest dufus.

Read the public law contained in the URL below. It lists the reasons for authorizing offensive military operations against Iraq. BTW, over 80% of Iraqi oil is under contract ot Compagnie Petrol De Francais, which is a French oil company. We have not imported one drop of Iraqi oil since August of 1990. Before that, we only bought 4% of their output.

How do you figure we are oil hungry? We export oil, we have oil reserves in Texas that are supposedly able to hold the US over for like 250 years. We have numerous states that produce oil. If we were to stop exporting oil and start refining and using our own stuff, you would see that we are far from oil hungry.

Only a moron would buy into the "Blood For Oil" nonesense. If a congressman gets a lot of heat for having 90 grand stuffed in his freezer, what do you think it'll happen if they get caught with millions of barrels of crude oil in his garage?
(Apart from the huge fine the EPA will drop on him.)

Yep, most of the above covers it. We did not go for oil. Proof...we have not gotten a drop from Iraq....we even tapped our own reserves when we could have easily gotten it from Iraq. I know from being there (Twice), it was about Saddam and his regime...nothing more.
