It is very refreshing to know that our young people are still considering the military services. I would have to agree with one of the previous answers. Join each of the services.

You have to look past what the actual jobs is that you are offered. A Truck Driver is still a Truck Driver whether they are in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. A Medic is still a Medic no matter what service they are in. They all pay the same as well. E4 in the Navy is paid the same as an E4 in the Air Force. You must research all the aspects of each service and see how their programs fit into your life at the current stage. For example. As a young man, the Navy may be a great option for the first 4 yrs. With Sea Duty, you will have the opportunity to travel and visit the world. That would be so good if you have a family. The one thing I do caution you on is the Marines. They like to put kids on an Open Contract. This means you take whatever job e Marines want you to do. Bad for future morale. The Air Force has awesome family programs, bigger bases and less deployments. This might work better for a 25-30 yr old man who wants to start a family. Overall, the military pays great, allows you to see the world, provides you will opportunities to make life long friends and everlasting memories. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

If you are truly interested in "everything", don't settle for just one branch of the armed forces. Join one, serve your time, then get an honorable discharge. Then repeat this process with a different branch.

I served in the Army and the Navy and enjoyed the variety of military life that I experienced. Also, I remember reading a story about a person who served in the Army, Navy and Air Force. I believe this is the best way to experience the variety that the various branches offer.

My best advice is to sign up for the minimum amount of time allowed for any branch. Although this will limit your choice of jobs within the military, this will allow you to serve in multiple branches in a shorter amount of time. Then if you find something you enjoy doing, you can easily extend your enlistment.

No branch does everything.

However if you want the broadest set of experiences I'd say join the Marine Corps.

The Marines like the Army generally do their fighting on land. So you get to spend time running around with an M16 training to be a warrior.

However unlike the army they also get to deploy to sea like the Navy, so you get to spend time alongside sailors on a ship traveling across the world.

The Marines also have their own fleet of jet aircraft like the Air Force, and helicopters like the Army.

Check out the website there's tons of videos that can give you a better picture of what Marines can do: http://www.marines.com/operating-forces

everything is rather indefinite. IF you love the ideal of being shot at

and shooting back, the military is for you. I hold a record there.

The military is NOT for the squeamish. For those interested in everything, maybe you should be a librarian.. where you can make

use of your mental versatility; as the military does not care

about what you love--they have a duty to do; protect the USA.

The closest we get get to interest in everything is going everywhere.

The Navy and Air Force are close to a tie on which goes to more places. Some of the places they send you need vast improvement to qualify as dumps. Some of the places they send you are so nice the memory lasts for life as treasured moments.

Being former Navy I'm biased.

Marines or Navy Seals

If your interested in everything, probably the Marines honestly. They are land based usually like the Army, sometimes go on Ships like the Navy and Coast Guard, and have aircraft like the Air Force.

So, they are pretty much all 4 other branches all wrapped up in one.

Oh, and they have the best uniforms too.

Air Force

The air force treats their people the best. Just really look into it and talk to some people who are in each branch. Not a recruiter, theyll just tell you what you want to hear.

My boyfriend just joined the army, I have a best friend in the Airforce, my other close friend is a marine and my cousin is joining the navy! I know you were looking for a specific answer but just reseach each one and see what you would be most comfortable doing.

I am only 14 btw. But, you need to list out some things you want out of the military. I'll list mine, and show you how I marked off each branch by what I need and want out of the US Military.

- Challenge: Crossed out the Air Force

- Has Law Enforcement work I want (Crime Scene Investigator; MP): Crossed off the Coast Guard

- Faster time to promote: Crossed off the Navy

- Which one has the most pride out of the remaining: Crossed of the Army

My gut tells me the Marines. I did a fair process of elimination by a good list of what I wanted out of the US Military.

Review Points:

1. Make a list of needs and/or wants/ pro or cons

2. Listen to your gut

If you were to join the US Army there are lots of trades to choose from, so that after you decide to leave you can get a decent job as a civilian. Choosing an engineering role is often a good choice. You are able to pick up a trade for when you leave (if you decide to) and are constantly learning so the job never gets stale. You also get to do a bit of fighting too so its the best of both worlds.

First you know

1) what you wanna be, the specific career that you want to be in

2) then you find out the requirements of each career

3) finding out the resources around it then work your way up from where you are assigned

you're less likely to be killed, maimed or permanently disabled in the coast guard. become a firefighter instead. it's a well respected and financially lucrative profession and serves our communities greatly.

i would probably try for the navy at this moment, anything working with boats as they are most practical at the moment for future life possibly, hence the interest. the money is nice too along with training, only real reason for enlisting for me
