Question:
Back Handed Monthly Counseling Statements?

I recently changed team leaders, and the newer one puts down weird comments on my monthly counseling.

Ex. "You're an above average runner, but we have yet to see your upper body strength." This seems unnecessary and stupid, especially considering the fact I'm an all around PT stud and the best runner in my company.

I'm currently post surgery on convalescent leave. I was high when I signed this thing on hydrocodone. Would it be right to bring this up to the CO. There were also comments about, "Not bringing in appointment slips", when these slips are non existent. Tricare gives reminders by phone where I'm stationed. I'm not planning on staying in the army so it isn't as important to me, but I don't want to get shorted when I don't deserve it.

Also, are counselings looked at post army for anything? Thanks in advance.

Monthly councelings follow you as far as the garbage can when you leave that unit. They're just a guideline for your performance sustains and improves and can be used to monitor progress. In some cases they can be looked at by legal when being considered for punishment under article 15 or separation. Bottom line in they go in the trash when you get out.

Counseling statements aren't even looked at "post unit" much less post Army. We destroy your counseling file when you PCS or ETS.

You are right that his statements seem a little flaky, but you signed off on it, rather than going to the bottom of the page and writing something in reply. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you see trouble on the horizon. And the appointment slip thing is a non-starter. Your commander knows there are no appointment slips, but the question is, did you inform your team leader of the appointment.

There is such a thing known as wall to wall counseling, an NCO can use these to recommend for an article 15, you na always make comments to the NCO's negative comments in the comment section, i suggest you rebuttal every negative comment with a positive comment just incase he is planning on using them for an article 15 to show that you need to be recommended for an article 15 sometime if you ever disobey an a direct order. This is what happened to me.

Geez , what is the military coming too. In the good old days when someone was prone to trouble making or just being an as*hole , the platoon sergeant took them to an unobservable spot "discussed" the error of their ways. Problem solved !!!!!!!

monthly counselings are used for nothing outside of the military.

Your team leader is most likely a douche bag.
