Question:
Navy SEALs BUD/s Warning Order Help?
2008-12-01 22:56:26 UTC
I've been doing the BUD/s warning order for quite some time now. And now I'm at the point where it's suggested I swim 45-75 min in fins, but I have no access to fins or an area in which I can train with them. Should I keep on doing my normal swim PT with no fins in replacement of that? or will that significantly lower my training progress for BUD/s?

If your swimming already, you have somewhere to swim.

You can by fins at any sporting goods stire.

Just buy a cheap pair for $20.00

Fins really wear your calf's out, thats why you practice with them.

If you really cannot get fins or swim with them.

Then do calf exercises.

You really should get fins. I followed the Warning order a few years back, when I did not have fins and then again a few months back when I did, and you NEED FINS. Your swimming with fins is a MUST and will help you out in BUD/S.

But remember, don't stop swimming merely because you dont have fins

I have talked to a former Navy SEAL, and he told me, that they give you that after you have passed the PST. I have tried it for a little bit, its a good work out to follow, but I think you need to up the intensity of training if you plan on going to bud/s. like the other post, nothing will prepare you for bud/s, but the bud/s warning order will only help a little. you need to train more than that though for the SEALs.

you need to learn to fin swim. you swim in an entirely different way and you need to get your body used to it. you can keep swimming w/o, but it's like running to prep for the tour de france.

if you absolutely cannot get a hold of some fins, then get a snorkel and start doing bike kicks with no arms, thats the closest thing you've got.
