If someone actually said "ten hut," the others would mostly just giggle at him.
However, not following legitimate orders would have you out of the military very soon. Anyone that survives basic knows how to follow them, and does. Not doing so would mean a charge, likely under section 129 of the National Defence Act "Conduct prejudicial to the good order of a serviceman."

It depends how often you fail to correctly respond and how determined you are, but initially your officer will order a left face, yell in your ear and there will be complimentary spittle running down the side of your head. If you persist long and hard enough then you will be dishonourably discharged at the end.
There's a whole lot of hell your commanding officer can put you through in between though, including incarceration and daily beatings. You won't be able to sue either, because the military are a law unto themselves. Provided they don't kill or permanently incapacitate you, they can basically do whatever they like.

Officers don't say "'Ten hut"- that's for the first enlisted to see him walk into a room, or the platoon commander when they're in formation.
But a Senior NCO will be right there explaining the right way to do it, and then helping you understand after work is done.

Different people lead in different ways. As a platoon leader, I left the discipline to my platoon sergeant and squad leaders. A simple look in their direction and they knew what to do. They typically would take the under-performing soldier into a room and "talk" to him for awhile. When they came out, the soldier seemed to listen better. He was also sweating a lot. Must've been an intense conversation.

You will be trained and retrained until you accomplish the task in an acceptable manner. That is a military given. Possibly you are not really cut out for a military career.

That would be considered insubordination and failure to meet or maintain military standards. These days it could get you kicked out with an OTH discharge and no benefits given the way they are kicking people out.

If you're enlisted, you typically get an a** chewing by a higher ranking enlisted member.
If you're an officer, you get a** chewing by a higher ranking officer.

You're in JROTC, so nothing much. They laugh at you if you at all high and mighty, and if you keep it up someone is going to slap you around until you knock it off.

Like peeling potatoes? Seriously, extra duty and denied liberty are big parts of keeping order.

If you don't have a good reason, you could be charged with insubordination.

You will be peeling potatoes or cleaning latrines for about a month---or you might get a week in the stockade.

Look up "willful disobedience to a lawful order," in the UCMJ
