I am going to basic in a few months and was wondering is it bad that I can't do situp's without something holding my feet down?

The Army Physical Fitness Test (not sure about other services) requires that someone be holding your feet while you perform the situp event. As long as you can do the minimum required, with someone holding your feet, then you will be fine.

If your going to basic you should be able to do situps without anybody holding your feet. Trying going to your couch and putting your feet under. That will help. Hope that helped :)

As long as you can do 60 or more sit ups while someone is holding your feet you are fine. Never will you have to do sit ups without someone holding your feet.

Actually it will probably be a boon to you. Simple physics would imply that your upper body is heavier than your lower body preventing your lower body from anchoring during a sit up. this should make several hazing exercises considerably easier, most notably the "leg lift" and all its variations including "flutter kicks"

Also i don't remember a single time when i was required to do a sit up without a leg holder And the only time i ever "NEEDED" to do a sit up was for a PT test and leg holders are always provided.
