Ok well I'm a junior now and I'm starting to do my 'research' on which branch I want to join. I've wanted to join the Military since the 6th grade and serve my country and have that pride but I really can't decide. I mean I want to join Marines because they are the 'toughest' branch out there and have the most respect but I want the Army because you get more career opportunities and education.

P.S. I also wanted to be a member on a S.W.A.T team as part of my career in life. I was kind of hoping either the Marines or Army would help out with that. Can't really contact with recruiters right now and I really wouldn't know how to ask a recruiter about my little 'life plan.'

Would appreciate the answers.

Thanks.

If you're a junior and at least 17 you can talk to a recruiter right now. You are allowed to take the ASVAB and physical for the Army and you can enlist in May, 14 months before you would be eligible to ship to basic if you was joining the Army. Not sure if the Marines have the same option or not but you can always ask.

What you need to consider is which branch offers the most that you want. Don't fall for hype saying which one is better or gets more respect than the other. Sit down with a recruiter and see which one tells you what you want to hear. Also, see which one give you the most options. As for being in SWAT, that depends on your local department's policy. Some of them look up to prior service and some don't. Ask about the PAYS program and see if SWAT is offered for it because the program guarantees you get a job interview after serving with participating employers.

Forget the first two comments. They have no clue and would never sacrifice anything for our country. Now, as to your question. It all depends on if you want to be 110% in the military. The Marines are a way of life. They have more rules off base and things, but you will be a part of something awesome. The Army is great to. You really need to talk to people from both like a recruiter. They will tell you everything to try to get you, but you have to know what you really want. Don't just join the Army because they tell you the Marines are no good and vice versa. Talk to someone! Good Luck!

I had been turn flopping additionally and that i too wish to do swat while im performed with the army and my plans are navy with a 31B MOS (army police) for the reason that with that at the resume it routinely offers you a task. And with the marines they are able to best get you a task in a targeted discipline of research normally like say you desired to be a healthcare professional they would best get you in into the Medical Branch element of the Marines. But with navy they certainly assurance you a task that you simply wish so long as that process is open someplace

both branches will help tremendously with being a member of a S.W.A.T team. anything in infantry in either branch will help you. Marines will say marines and Army will say army. both branches have great career opportunities and education. Army deployments are longer than Marines though, Army- 10-18 months, Marines- 6-7 months

I joined the Army, more opportunities and better equipment.

Ranger school, Airborne school, Sapper school, Pathfinder School, and more.

I enlisted as a Cavalry Scout, it's like a mix of Armor and Infantry. It's the love of my life.

Every branch is great at what they do, not one is better than the other and we're all fighting the same fight. Don't believe anyone when they say that their branch is better than x branch.

Don't be disheartened by those other two comments. Just be happy that you're the reason they're allowed to say it without being hunted down and thrown in a van.

My husband is in the Army. He would say "go Army" :)

***Sorry Sandy, I did not see the other two comments, they had a low rating, and thus showed me as the second comment.

War is MURDER

The ones who send you to war do not care about the individual they care about their own selfish needs. You will just be a statistic

No. Don't kill or die for empire.

It's sad how the voices of sanity are written off by the mindless drones.
