Question:
Can anyone recommend any military movies?

I've seen a whole bunch. I'm interested in watching some new ones I haven't seen before.

Latest ones I've seen are:

Saving Private Ryan
Courage Under Fire
Men of Honor
The Guardian
Black Hawk Down
Tigerland
An Officer and a Gentleman

And a bunch I'm probably forgetting. I love the military training movies (I know they're not realistic. It's entertaining though.)

Are there any about Officers or the Service Academies perhaps?

I saw there was one called "Annapolis" about the Naval Academy but it got horrible reviews so I skipped it.

One of (If not THE best) military movie I have ever seen is "Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon. There is NO combat action, no overseas footage, none of that. It is a movie about a Marine KIA and Kevin Bacon is assigned as his escort to bring him home. It is a very touching movie! I recommend watching it!!! Also, 'Full Metal Jacket', 'Hart's War' and The Kingdom (The Kingdom really isn't 'military' though. It is about the US Compound that was bombed in Saudi Arabia and 4 FBI agents, against orders, go to Saudi Arabia to investigate it. There is A LOT of action in this one!!!

My favourites are 'Full Metal Jacket', which is about Marines in the Vietnam War, and 'Talvisota'. which is about the Winter War. They are both awesome.

I prefer comedies so, Down Periscope and Mchale's Navy(the movie and the TV show) are pretty goofy but I like 'em.

"Band of Brothers" it's actually an HBO series that's 10-1 hour parts. It's the best I ever watched

Also "Glory"

"Cross of Iron"

It's a dated foreign film about the Eastern Front, but it uses genuine equipment, including Soviet T-34 (85mm) and period correct American trucks and artillery, given in the lend-lease program.

Enemy at the Gates is a very good Russian-POV movie. It's about a sniper who gains popularity and ends up dueling it out with the best German sniper. Very good movie.
