Considering its geographic isolation, how militarily proficient it is,NATO, with addition to the fact that many of the citizens own guns, it would seem like a hell to an occupying force.

Any thoughts on this?

Invasion of the United States is difficult indeed. The only feasible way is through the Bearing Strait. If the invasion is successful then the occupation will be a piece of cake. Open plains and the population highly concentrated in the cities make control easy.

In eastern Europe, after the war there were plenty of firearms in the hands of citizens, yet the Soviet occupiers had no problem with imposing their rule and quickly disarmed the populace.

We have way to many allies. There is no way a country could send that many troops over here and occupy us. We have satellites and a Navy to prevent it. Plus, Britain, Australia, Japan and Canada are all on the sides of us. So any military activity would have to go through them then fly over to get us.

Yes, run for office and get elected, get more of your colleagues to run and help them get elected, over time you will be able to take over and do whatever you want. You would also need to take over the media to push your propaganda and you would have to nationalize education and brainwash future voters at a young age. This couldn't be done over night, it could take 50 to 100 years to accomplish.

You could try to do it by force but you would ultimately fail just like the red army in Russia. If the people aren't on your side it doesn't matter how many weapons you have.

Saddam had every home in Iraq armed with an assault rifle.

The fall of the U.S. will be economic and the invasion will be ushered in by right-wing forces in America who will open the doors to a foreign invader rather than sit back and watch the working class take state power.

In every country that has ever been under the thumb of an imperialist power, that imperialist power ALWAYS, without exception, props up a hated, murderous, treasonous, RIGHT-WING dictator whose job is to allow his own nation's people to be raped and his country's natural resources to be looted by the imperialist power and its allies. Frequently, the imperialist power conspired to overthrow a leftist government or a nationalist government whose people were living a higher standard of living through the exploitation of their own nation's resources.

The right-wing in the U.S. is responsible for off-shoring our better-paying jobs, attacking striking workers, slashing wages and benefits, looting trillions from the public till for bankster bailouts and imperialist wars, driving down the value of the dollar, buying politicians, stealing elections, assassinating leftist political leaders, attacking us on 9/11, etc.

Ask the Italian Mafia they do a pretty good job of controlling Americans like slaves and keeping everything in silence.

Admiral Yamamoto said during WW2 that Japan would never attack the U.S. because there was a gun behind every blade of grass. I think the same holds true today.
