I was in an argument today on the matter. I said that they more than likely do not have quotas and if they do they aren't strict such as they are payed by how many people they recruit or they are possibly moved/demoted/etc. if they do not meet a certain quota of enlisted recruits. The reason I thought this was because you are pretty much at the whim of the masses not everyone wants to be a soldier and it's not like you can randomly pull someone off the street and talk them into joining in a matter of 15 minutes. So do they have quotas and if so how strict are they? Additional information would be appreciated.

Each recruiter no longer has a "quota" but the recruiting station has a quota or mission goal each month. So, if there are five recruiters in an office and the mission for that month is five on the floor then each recruiter is responsible to recruit at least one each. Now it may turn out that one recruiter enlisted three new recruits and two others one each and there is your five. Now the two that "rolled doughnuts" that month will get counseled but no one is getting extra pay or bonuses for meeting recruiting goals. If a station misses a goal then yes, everyone gets counseled and they do have to go to their recruiting companies and get chewed out and threatened with death and career ending paperwork (sarcastic there but kind of close) for missing goals.

Years ago each recruiter had their own mission every month and yes, many of them did not do so well. Many were stationed outside of remote locations in S. Dakota for example and missed goals every month where the recruiters in Atlanta had no problem. Often this was seen as a career killer but these days not so much as the station as a whole has a goal and it's kind of like selling cars. You might sell three this month and zero the next but the other salesmen sold five so your dealership is fine.

Of course they have quotas. Every branch has a recruiting goal to meet every year. It's been 80000 for the army for a few years if I remember right.

as quickly as I spoke to the army recruiter returned in November he could purely refer to me approximately EOD and question me why i could desire the different jobs. as quickly as I reported the clarification why i wanted the different jobs he'd attempt to make that job sound undesirable and EOD extra suited. Going with army in any case. He became way too pushy.
