Question:
Why is the army switching to the blue dress uniforms?

For special occasions or whatever I think they are fine, and I know there is history with them, but to get rid of the green uniforms and replace them completely with the blue ones looks rediculous. looks like the coast guard's corporate employees decided to do a makeover on the army. I hope I am wrong about the uniform change

Hello Luce,

In all the old movies did you ever see the Calvary wearing green? They wore blue.

Anyway, the choice is up to the Army to prescribe the kind of dress uniform they wish to wear.

And of course this uniform is not worn in combat, anyway.

Best wishes,

Like all uniform changes, there was a bored Colonel in the pentagon, who needed something to do.

They will give all kinds of reasons, that enlisted now do not need a separate dress uniform

Going back to army blue from the past

But what they did, was take the dress blues, and lower the quality of the material

IE: from a very good suit to a cheap suit

And make it the class A's

2. There was no demand for it, no one had any issue with the green class A's

3. my personal opinion, is if they wanna go back to blue uniforms, then go back to the Civil war era dress uniforms, they looked much better and go back to the old Calvary stripes for enlisted

Which are still issued today, for those in the Army Band.

I agree, There is actually nothing "new" about the dress blues as they've had versions of them since the 1950's and everything about the new ones are supposedly a culmination of historical uniforms. They looked extremely terrible because of those unfit "models" in those recently widely released photos.

However, fit individuals can make them look "spectacular", case in point the unknown soldier tomb guards.

I don't agree with entirely removing the greens though, because they are most associated with the Army (yes I know Marines have greens too, they should be the ones to rid of them) and nearly 99% percent of the force already has them. IMO, it would save costs and would help identify "special" individuals. Same is to be said for the berets, let the Rangers and SF keep em, they're the ones who earned it.

What I heard was the Military held a survey and most people said the USMC Dress Blues looked the best, so the army, to raise recruitment, changed their uniform to what they thought the people wanted, but didn't want. Also look at the new Navy Service Uniform, it looks like USMC service Charlies. Hope this helped, I'm not sure if true though its just what I heard.

Often Army regulation dismisses non-combat Veterans as second class soldiers. I have never spoken to a combat Veteran who felt that any member of combat arms MOS (combat Veteran or not) would not have his back. Because in the era of volunteer Army we stood took the same oath and did not have to fire on an enemy, we cannot wear a uniform! Get over it! Not like its a purple heart. Our mission was accomplished .Thank You very much!

The new ASU(Army Service Uniforms) brings back the root of old uniforms that were used before, The class Bs can be used with class As now, simply add a bow tie.
