A friend of mine one day told me about the C.P.O.L. as we were walking. We are both about to go to engineering school and he said that we he gets out, that's what he wants to do. The C.P.O.L. is a civilian military program. He said that it'll be just like going to work, but you'll be in/near a military base. He also said something about them providing housing. My question is, is just like joining the army? Will I be forced to go the middle east if needed? Can I pick the country I wish to work in? I really am not that familiar with this and I'd like to hear about past experiences if anybody has any or knows of some.

I do not have personal experience with them, but this is a quote from their site.

"Become a member of the Army Civilian Team. Visit our Employment page and discover countless opportunities to join the Army as a Civilian. The Army has a wealth of challenging jobs with progressive employment practices, a family friendly atmosphere, exceptional benefits, and a diverse workforce."

No CPOL isnt like joining the military and I never heard of them providing housing. CPOL offers jobs any where from being a hotel clerk on post to being a civilian dr. I am an animal care taker/ handler on post and was hired through CPOL. I live on post because my husband is Active duty Army. You choose what state and/or country you want to work in then see if they have any openings that you are qualified for. They dont "force" you to do anything. Its a job you are hired and you can get fired... you dont enlist in the CPOL, however some of their jobs do require army reserve membership.

Here is their website

http://acpol.army.mil/employment/ ... they dont give civilians housing for working at the inn or at the bowling alley...army housing is for army ...not civilians

It is a hireing agency for civilians who are employed to work in facilitys and Military bases. Kinda like going to work at Mac Donalds or anywhere else except you work on base, thus you will have to have a clearance to get on base. No houseing no enlisting just civilian hire.

You will be a civilian working in the military area. Its nothing like the army..there is no pt, no meetings, no deployement. You can recieve housing, you may recieve access to the commisary, class 6, PX/BX, and anyother areas if they grant you that. You will get a sticker for your car and they will give you a civilian ID similar to military id cards. Its really good pay and it shows great on resumes. any other questions you have I can try to answer. Good Luck
