Lets say the bomb was dropped onto a huge, flat, and open field with zero cover. How far away would you have to stand in order to not get killed? And how far away would you have to stand to not get injured?

The Mark 84 is capable of forming a crater 50 feet (15.2 m) wide and 36 ft (11.0 m) deep. It can penetrate up to 15 inches (381.0 mm) of metal or 11 ft (3.4 m) of concrete, depending on the height from which it is dropped, and causes lethal fragmentation to a radius of 400 yards (365.8 m).[3]

There are several types of fillers that can be in a MK84 bomb but I used 945 lbs of Tritonal for my calculations. To stand behind cover and be 100% safe from the blast overpressure, you would have to be at a distance of over 3,300 feet. Fragmentation that will rip you to shreds will travel 983 feet and that is known as the hazardous frag. Large pieces of the bomb can travel to just under 6,700 feet but they will not be moving fast enough to rip you to pieces. They can knock you out, crush you, and such though..
