Question:
Navy SN-PACT to SO/SeAL/SWCC?

Hi. I ship out this December in SN-PACT. I have gotten a lot of bad comments about this rating however I was going to go for SO (most likely SeAL) after a year or year and a half after shipping and doing SN-PACT because I was told to do SN and then go for SeAL. I was told they can pull you out of whatever rating you are in because SeALs is still part of the Navy but a separate program or like they have their own thing going on or something like that.

If SN-PACT really is that bad then I'll go for another rating such as IT, AIRR, ABE/ABF/ABH or HM despite its slow advancement.

Is this possible to do during my time of service and get pulled out or do I have to wait after finishing my rating?

If you go in as with the S-PACT, then more than likely, you will not be able to strike for any ratings in the Aviation Community (that's why there is the A-PACT Program); you will probably end up as a BM.

Yes, there is a chance that you can "try" to become a Navy SEAL or SWCC later. However, you must wait for at least 2 years at your first command (and must have already met all of the requirements for SEAL/SWCC) before you can request and submit the package to crossrate; but it will not be easy just to get your request approved.

Btw, SO is an official rating for all Enlisted Navy SEALs.

You are crazy to go into the Navy as an undesignated Seaman. There are limited jobs you can strike for later on. The other issue is you can only strike for a rating on YOUR ship and availability on YOUR ship. Opportunities may be limited, depending on whether or not others are already in the slots. Additionally, some of the ratings depend on getting into A School. Priority given to those that joined the Navy in those jobs.

PACT isn't a Rating, You're an Undesignated Seaman. They'll throw you into any position that needs a strong back and a weak mind.......and that nobody else (including restricted people) don't want to do.

I'm not going to say your recruiter lied to you but the truth is stretched tight as a banjo string.

It's technically possible to transfer from another rate to seal. However, the chances will drop to near zero if you enlist and wait a year.

no matter what you do you will need to complete your entire contract before REQUESTING to cross rate. as Undesignated, you must strike for a rating within 2 years or you will automatically default to BM.

if you did not qualify for a SEAL challenge contract in the first place, you will never get one later on.
