I am going into the Marine Corps as soon as I finish up my degree this year. I scored very high on the asvab and gt test. I am also fluent in two other languages. My recruiter told me that I qualify for any MOS that I want but I am not a citizen. I was hoping to go in as some form of Military Intelligence and then apply for MSG but i see that one would have to be a citizen. I could file for citizenship now but its $1000( I am 20yo, my job doesnt pay that great) and it takes a while so I was just going to file after basic (its expedited and its free this way). What MOS should I pick that doesnt require to be a citizen, can I switch MOS later? What should I do?

How can you qualify for anything if you are not a US citizen?

You can not switch later on till after your first contract is done with. And I would never recommend a job for you since I have no idea who you are or what you like.

You might want to choose a job that interest you.

In my opinion I would not join if I were you. Your options are limited. Just wait till you are a citizen and then chose the career you want.

I just came off a tour as a Marine Corps recruiter and I will tell you that the Marine Corps does take into consideration your wishes and you will sign a Program Statement of Understanding (PSOU) that will spell out all the MOS possibilities for you in black and white. The Marines is a very competitive place and it will fill any vacancies on a first come first serve basis. Look into the programs very carefully and know that you could get any of the MOS’s contained therein. Also, certain programs are only available at select times during the year. It’s essential to have an open dialogue with all the recruiters in the office and take their advice, after all they are what you are striving to emulate. Semper Fidelis and best of luck in your future

Just so you know, it is VERY VERY HARD to switch MOS's in the Marine Corps. It usually requires reenlistment.

Now by degree you mean college degree right? A bachelors degree? Have you ever considered becoming an officer instead of enlisting?

What are your interests?

Anything specific, you can email me as well.

Edit to Lava dog: You don't have to be a citizen to join the military in any branch. All you need is a visa.

Yes, you can switch MOS's later, but it's REALLY hard to do. I have only seen 2 people change MOS's, and they switched from admin to infantry. I was in the infantry, so i am partial to the 0311! but it depends entirely on what you expect to accomplish in the next 4 years, how you want to contribute to the Corps. I know that for MSG, and infantry back round in important, but without citizenship you can't. Seeing as you are fluent in two languages, i would recommend Intelligence linguistics field. Feel free to email me wit any other questions.
