Veterans.......?

Question

I need help, i have a school paper that i need to write on whether veterans should get special treatment or not. I need some websites and things that could help me. It has to be a six page paper and i can't find any info, i found a couple books, but i need internet sources too. Thanks for the help!

I do not deserve special treatment, I joined because I wanted to jump from the sky, fly around in helicopters and scuba dive in exotic places around the world while getting paid. I went to combat, I got hurt, got medals later I got out and now I work and carry on with a life worth living. I do not need any special treatment, thank you anyway.

As stated earlier, most veterans don't need or expect the benefits. But then there are those that seriously need them. So it's good to know that they are there.

That's a great point, Greg Black (below). IMNSHO, any of this is not "special treatment". It is benefits that the Veterans have earned.



Special treatment is when the airlines upgrades a military person in uniform to first class. VA medical care is an earned benefit. Good luck on writing six pages on special treatment.

My husband is a veteran and I do think that they should get special treatment.. Because he got hurt in iraq and now he goes to school and are income is so low that we get medicade and food stamp and I think that is so sad. Here you have someone who almost died and we are struggling to live. Thats crazy all that he has done for this country and this is what we get. The va sucks , when you want a apointment they have to make it 3 months out. They are just jerks and don't take very good care of the vets. They always lose papers . I am not sure on souces you best bet is to look up the va on the internet and check out foxnews.com and cnn.com good luck

I am a Combat Vet. I served in Iraq, on Route Irish (Look it up) I did not join the Military to get Special Treatment nor do I believe most of the other troops did. With that said I am very happy there are many organizations out there that are there to help. When I got back from Iraq my family had moved (My wife needed to be closer to her family). I had no job, no source of income, but is was because of the "Special Treatments" I was able to put food on the table, and keep a roof over there head. So do we need them? No. Do they help? YES!

I'm a veteran, but I didn't join so I could get any special treatment when I got out. And I bet if you asked 100 veterans, at least 99 would tell you the same thing (there are always a few selfish people in the world that do thing for their own benefit).

In the meantime, please understand that veterans have it very hard. Did you know at least 25% of homeless people are veterans? Can you imagine fighting in a foreign country being shot at, being injured, lose a limb, a wife, your kids, your money (military does NOT get paid very much), and then to come home to fight the VA for their benefits. Go to CNN.com and look up the Dr. Sanjay Gupta story on veterans who got blowed up in Iraq and the VA denying their claims, saying it was not related to their being in service - a slap to these veterans face...so sad...

I am a 13 year Special Forces veteran. And while there are alot of people or groups in our society that gets "special treatment," for doing allot less than most military people. And after saying that I would say to the extent of anyone else.



They put their life on the line, make sacrifices if they are in a war or not involved in anything. But most do it, because they feel they should. And that is good enough for them.

Veterans should and do get special treatments for certain things i.e. reduced or no property taxes, VA disability income is tax free, free education and many more.



Do they deserve it, YES> they have had to endure things that most Americans can not even imagine. Try going away and not seeing the ones you love for long periods of time. See your friends die, others get wounded and sent home. Go without the comforts of lap tops, i-pods, i-phones, clean clothes, good food, no fancy car to go party in.

I am a WWII vet and you shouldn't have to apologize for your question. There is not enough questioning of the military in our nation. Yes, wounded veterans should get all the help they need. Other veterans should get enough aid to help them get back into civilian society. The question that you might have asked is "Should the defense industry be allowed to become filthy rich on the suffering of the troops on the battlefield?"

Really as a veteran I am not looking for anything special.



I would like my fellow veterans that are injured (mentally or physically) to be taken care of to the best of our ability. I think we as Americans should do this.

We are Veterans. We work 24/7 for up to 30 years of our lives. A lot of the time we leave our families behind to deploy to fight for YOUR freedoms. We do not get special treatment on ANYTHING.



Your daddy, if you have one, may work at his job for 20 or 30 years and retire right? He may get a pension and medical benefits, is that special treatment in your mind?



We go to work everyday. We earn any benefits after we get out. We PAY for our GI Bill out of our first year paycheck. VA home loan guarantee doesn't cost anyone any money. Our medical care after we get out costs us money just like any civilian that pays a co-pay.



Where do you get off with such an ignorant question?! You aren't going to find any Veteran Special Treatment web pages.



Why don't you right a paper on something important. Kids have no clue about anything in US history, but you waste your time writing a crappy 6 page paper on being anti-American.



Can you tell me anything important about the founding fathers besides you think George Washington had wood teeth and he chopped down a cherry tree? All fiction by the way! Go educate your mind for real and stop wasting brain cells on being a communist anti-war, anti-freedom, anti-military punk.

i think you should re-evaluate the way your looking at your paper. typically the only "special treatment" vets get are from other vets. research how we do this through the VFW, American Legion, Blue Star Mothers, Army Emergency Relief, etc ...
