My husband came back from deployment recently. He liked it when I sent my pictures in a little photo album, so that he can pull it out and flip through. I sent him pictures to add to the album throughout the deployment.

I'd send him letters and little things throughout the deployment instead of one big care package.

He loved this brownie stuff that I sent him, where he could warm it up in the microwave. check the cake mix aisle.

hang in there!

I like getting cookies, Homemade, just put them in an airtight container, and don't do chocolate chip. they will be fine. Also it depends on what base he is on is it a big one with a PX or a little one in the middle of nowhere. If its in the middle of nowhere anything normal like beef jerky and ramen noodles and packaged candy is great. If he is on a big base with a PX he can get the stuff all day, so i would just stick to the cookies and maybe a nice letter you wrote include some pics of you and family members and its good.

If you have extra money to spare, get a digital picture frame. I've seen them for about $40-$70 (check out Amazon.com for one in your price range.) They're awesome and useful because you can put a memory card in and he can have 60 pictures of you and the kids to scroll through and display. Saves space too. It's a lovely gift, and he'll have bunches of pictures and can choose and change which one to display.

A black hanging toiletry case. I got a nice one at Target for $17. Sounds silly but they're awesome and he can use it for anything.

But nothing lifts the spirits more than a nice handwritten letter telling him that you love him. And have the kids write letters and draw pictures too.

Keep in mind space is limited out there and if he wants to bring items home he already has full bags from just military gear unless he ships stuff ahead.

Any mail is great and a big morale booster. Prior to my hubby coming home I sent a coupon book to him. You know those ones that have this coupon good for a ten minute back rub etc.

You know him best and what kind of things he likes.

'Care packages' can consist of anything you want it to, but no contraband. Know this: Care packages are to be shared. If you do not want your hubby to share, one of two things will happen: first, anyone else getting a care package will not share with him and/or his care package could be 'compromised'. Second, suggestion, (this is what my wife and mother used to do), every serviceman always needs, socks, briefs, t-shrits, personal items, etc.: Put sharable items in the package and then wrap what you don't want him to share in the skivvies, personals, etc. Trust me, the items are new and eating cookies that were wrapped in underwear... no one will know the difference. Thank him for his service and thank you for your service in getting the care packages to us. Those care packages are bigger morale boosters than most might think.

You could send him a 1-2 page handwritten letter. I know it's very general but my husband likes when I write him things. Also, he loves when I spray his favorite perfume on a piece of paper or on a card. He always asks me to do that.

Cute ideas from the kids:

Any original artwork from them, including pictures they draw of their family, maybe have them draw a picture of their daddy with an American flag. Also have them write letters to them. If they are too young to write themselves, you can write them for them.

Awesome idea from you:

1. My boyfriend is deployed right now, and I went to Target and picked up a digital photo keychain. They're only $20, and hold 60 pictures. Comes with a USB cable to connect it to your computer for downloading photos. Gave it to my boyfriend before he left, and it brought a tear to his eye. He said it was perfect because he could always have pictures of me and his son with him.

2. There are SEVERAL websites online where you can order dogtags that they will put photos on. Check them out. I will be sending one to my boyfriend for Father's Day.

3. Add a pillow case doused in your perfume so he can hold it at night and think of you. Be sure to pack in a ziplock bag so the scent stays on the pillow case during shipping.

4. Ziplock bags and containers -- any opened food not sealed will get sand in it!!!

5. Lint rollers to get sand off his bed.

6. Individual drink mix packets. He just dumps it into a bottle of water.

7. On usps.com they offer free APO flat rate boxes, you can order them online & they ship it to you in 7-10 business days at no cost. You can order them in a bundle, either a pack of 10 or a pack of 25 boxes! Its 2.00 cheaper than the regular flat rate boxes for shipping..

8. Send him a "World's Best Dad" T-shirt for Father's Day.

Thank him for serving his country from all of us. You should be proud to be married to a true hero. And remember that you should be proud of yourself for holding down the fort at home. Godspeed to him, and my prayers are with your family.
