I plan on serving in the military, I'd like to either program computers or work with electronics, and I was wondering what information someone could give me. I'd like to know what opportunities there are, if I should join the air force or the Navy, and what I should know ahead of time, thanks!

I cant speak for the Air Force or Navy. In the Army there are several opportunities to work on computers and electronics. You can be a 25B, which is basically the IT guy. They are kind of a joke, you don’t really learn anything going through school for them. You might be lost when you get to your first unit if you don’t have a good foundation in computers already.

You can do my MOS (94F) which is a special electronics devices repairer. I like it, you get to work on a lot of the small electronics you'll see in the army. Computer hardware falls into my MOS.

I would suggest, should you choose the army and score well enough on the ASVAB/think you can handle the school. Go 33W. Its Electronics Warfare/Intercept System Repairer. You get to learn to work at electronics at a higher level than my MOS, you’ll have a Top Secret clearance and you'll be/work with Military Intelligence.

I know a lot (Maybe all) of the IT guys need Top Secret clearence because they work around MI's computers. So you will need to pass a huge background check.

Other than that I am MI and on the other side. Sorry.
