I have spent 23 years in the USAF, and I have two associates degrees and one BA degree in Criminal Justice.

The way the Community College of the Air Force works is you get credits for your Tech School and other things you will do such as your 5 skill level and 7 level course and your PME schools that you Attend.

As far as going on to school the Air Force pushes their folks to get higher degrees. Depending on the AFSC ( or job) you pick, you can go to school. Some jobs such as Security Forces and others it is way harder to get to classes.

Most Air Force bases have college classes on the base one of the main schools is the University of Maryland they are everywhere and including overseas.

I am a Combat Controller ( special ops) type and deploy alot so it took many some time to get my BA, and plus to be honest it was not high on my ticket in my first eight years.

Most jobs such as Medical I have seen folks that go to noon time classes with their supervisors approval.

I have seen alot of folks who come in for the education and then don't stay on track so they don't get any type of degree.

I wish you all luck and hope this helps with your question.

If you have any other questions please let me know

P.S. Also CLEPS and DANTES tests are free to active duty military, these test cost anywhere from $75 and up in the civilian world

First matters first. If you'll cross top university gymnasium magnificence and you'll say sure sir/ma'am than elementary can be convenient. The air drive BMT (elementary navy coaching) isn't as difficult as the opposite branches. Just maintain out of the best way of the Training Instructers and be certain your apparel is folder correct, and you are going to be excellent. You would get yelled at a couple of occasions for dull matters, however its not anything to fear approximately. At occasions you are going to feel the air drive sucks, however bear in mind this, the operational air drive is not anything like Basic. Now, the change among the reserve and energetic obligation. Well with reserve you might set up extra typically. They spend extra time foreign that energetic obligation does. Also within the reserve its more difficult to make rank. I see ancient men the equal rank as i'm and i'm 23. In energetic obligation you might make a brand new rank each two years should you take a look at. Now your process. Intelligence i listen is a well process. A man i as soon as labored with went and did that process. The something approximately it's this: alot of your process is categorised and also you cant inform any one what you do at paintings. About your grandma. simply remind right here that you'll pass to school whilst within the air drive and get a measure. There alot of excellent matters approximately the air drive. If you're married you receives a commission additional cash to are living off base. (BAH). You might are living within the dorms, so that you might get loose meals on the chow corridor. Free scientific/dental. Every base has a gymnasium, and such a lot have swimming pools. Free education. There are such a lot of different matters. And the final recommendation i can supply. When you pass to elementary take a roll of quaters for the snack/soda machines while you get pattio breaks. Once per week on a weekend you are going to be allowed to move out to slightly field with telephones and snacks and beverages to simply chill out for slightly bit. I feel they supply you favor 10 mins. But it might suck to get available in the market and now not have any quaters.

She is right take example my experience was similar to yours I did 4 years and I was close to my degree but 7 week basic, 4 months of training after basic, then a year after that before you complete your mandatory upgrade training (all has to do with your career field some take longer). Then you get to start back to school so you have already lost that much time then I (most people) got deployed about that time could be before or after and during that time it is very hard to go to school while over seas during a war don't get me wrong it's not impossible but very hard. Then a lot of your credit through the military don't cross over and you are just a bit further then where you are now and it's four years later. My advice Air Force Reserves. Still pays alot of your school and you still get the military feel of things to see if you like it at any point in your reserve career you can go active duty but you can't go active back to reserve. Think about it

Yes, but it takes a very long time to finish the mandatory training for the military. Only when that is done can you begin on your education. However, you can transfer your military training into college credits. If you Clep some courses, you can have up to a year in college without taking the classes.

The first thing you should do once you are released to pursue higher education is to go to the education office and chart your plans. Too many people start taking classes willy nilly and end up with useless courses that don't apply. The education officer can help you immensely so use them!

You will be glad you did both! Serve your country and get your education. This will enable you to succeed in a career over those who don't chose this path. And thank you in advance for wanting to serve our country!

Figure on at least five or six months for your basic training and tech school. When you get to your permanent duty station, there may be time for taking college courses. However, your duties will come first, and it could take you two years just to finish a semester's worth of courses. A lot will depend upon where you get assigned.
