The signature is on a document commending a senior officer. The signature is genuine, and handwritten. Any information tht could be provided would be great. Thanks

Try selling it on Ebay..but put a reserve on it so you won't lose anything.

I would sell it under Historical collectible items ,or WWII ,category, try selling it in more than one category for $99.99 with a reserve for about 175.00.

Good luck.

If you make 175 for it,better than nothing, and once it hits 175 ,it might go for more.

Scan it on a computer to list the photo .

Firstly, your Grandfather did not steal it, any item of Nazi militaria was considered war booty, this does not fall into the same category as looting or stealing a Nations art treasures or a families personal items all which were covered under military regulations.

At the time this item was liberated it would be worth about as much as toilet paper, which many nazi paper items were used for.

The paper item is more correctly known as a: URKUNDE

which roughly translates as Certificate of Entitlement.

The value today falls into two category's:

1. Historical, some people collect the document for the person it is named for: i.e, Branch of Service, Personal history etc..etc..

2. Signature collectors, here the signature has to be verified that it is Adolf Hitlers real signature and not applied by rubber stamp. Adolf Hitler did not have the time to sign each and every document.

Also it depends on the condition of the document, even with A.H. name if in poor or damaged condition it will seriously effect the value.

Do not effect any repairs with tape or glue if damaged, this drops the value way down!!!

Some of these items have a value as low as 40 Euro to 150+ Euro depending on what I stated above. A picture would be a big help when trying to ask for an evaluation.

P.S. watch out for "nice" people offering to take this worthless document off your hands for a few bucks, they buy low and sell big, the militaria world has its share of vermin dealers out to rip vets families off!!!

First don't worry or take any notice of some of the paranoid answers.

You only have to mention the name Hitler to send some mindless people into a frenzy.

Hitler, whatever you think of him changed the history of the world, so is an important historical figure,

Now that I've got that off my chest, I suggest you scan the document and mail it to my source who buy and sell signatures of historical as well as the usual film star stuff

They will probably make you an offer, at least then you will have an idea of it's market value, usually Ebay customers are looking for bargains, I don't knock that because my fiance has just bought a wedding dress for £25.

if you got it authenticated it would be worth quite a bit. most expensive ww2 colecatables tends to be german. be wary of posting it on ebay and the like as there is strict rules in europe regarding artifacts with Nazi symbols. You would be best to source ww2 colectors sites as these guys are your best source of info.this site might help a bit

It sure is. You just need to find some one who is very interested in that era.

Anthony from Opie and Anthony (talk show on XM radio and regular radio) would be interested. If you can get in touch with him.

Go to www.opieandanthony.com

Send emails to the entire staff to ensure he gets the info

value from what ive just looked at depends lots on what the signature is actually on. and from what ive seen you may be sat on a small fortune !

ya wont be retiring but you may be pleasantly surprised

word of advise ..........do some serious research if you are considering selling , if you dont ur gona get ripped of

good luck

edit.....

what ever you do DONT sell it on ebay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a signed letter is for sale for $23,000 (aprox £12,500) on the site above

he was a world leader....regardless of what he did why would his signature not be worth that of any other world leader???

probably more due to his historical stature

Well, seeing as a globe (with no actualy physical proof [such as his writing or marks] to prove it was his other than the fact that it was indeed taken from his home) from Hitler's home sold for $115,000 (US) I assume that anything actually involving anything he has written will reach or be worth way more than $115,000 if it is signed by the deceased dictator himself.

Have it valued properly by experts! Spinks or Sotheby's with a good reputation.

Dont sell it on eBay - thats a really dumb idea!

Sure - it's probably got some value. Put it on Ebay and find out. At least nobody will use it to steal his identity!
